todayās the only day you can reblog this
āThere Will Come Soft Rainsā, Ray Bradbury
All my mugs are in the dishwasher and Iām in the middle stages of adhd burnout so I am drinking coffee out of a cereal bowl like a fucking heathen. Is coffee soup? It is now, and itās a damn good one too.
Project Hail Mary and everything is the same except for the fact that the reason Grace rides a bike to work is because his license got suspended for speeding. This changes nothing except for that when he was learning to pilot he felt an urge to just go full throttle and doesnāt know why until much later
been a while but we're BACK
the fic
The last two chapters (5&6) are actually the first time Iāve ever read body horror and been truly disgusted and freaked out. Iāve read a fuck ton of horror novels and have genuinely never read anything that evoked this much of a response from me. I wanted to throw up a little (positive). Super awesome fic, awesome artwork, bravo
A meal high in dietary fiber hates to see me coming
Sometimes Iām pain free for so long I forget I have ~spicy nerves~ but I was violently reminded today because I did a very strenuous activity called āholding and reading a book for twenty minutesā
Not now, kitten, m- da- m- your parental figure is in the middle of a gender crisis
i do think lobbying for data centres over climate goals should be considered a crime against humanity btw
I would like to introduce you to Rocky the heating pad!
Vague and mostly unhelpful instructions under break:
Finding out I had endometriosis was borderline poetic because I feel like this was really just the natural progression of things. My soul is so allergic to being female that it broke my uterus
However it still hurts like a motherfucker please send thoughts and prayers and iron supplements
I hate hate hate that we are essentially living in a surveillance state and that everything we do it watched and recorded and we never actually have privacy and smart technology just invites corporations into our homes to further surveil usā¦
And yet I bought a smart lightbulb. It changes colors, I turn it on and off from my phone. I think this is the single bit of smart technology I can genuinely get behind, because thatās my little lightbulb, and when I click on my phone that I want it to turn color āhonkshooā it turns honkshoo goddamn it
red hood lost days
Im going to hold your hand when I say this. It is not realistic to expect yourself or your family to be able to survive solely off of food you have foraged or grown in a garden. People with more knowledge and experience have tried and failed. What do you think happened to all of those communes in the 60s? Most of them failed. Famine and malnutrition have been constant companions to humanity until industrialized farming and food supply lines came along.
It feels like a uniquely American capitalist take to assume these traditions will make you completely self sufficient. You need a lot of people, a lot of time, a lot of knowledge across a lot of subjects, and a lot of luck to provide for everyone's nutritional needs.
So should you even bother trying to be more self sufficient with your food? I argue yes. Foraging and gardening are fun and will teach you so much about many things. They are deeply rewarding activities that can supplement your diet. There are herbs I haven't bought in years because I grow my own. There are dishes I can only make with foraged ingredients because I can't get them in stores.
You may not have the power to do everything, but that doesn't mean your efforts are wasted. Getting 5% of your nutritional needs from food you have grown or foraged, even for a season, is a massive accomplishment.
As someone who has studied the environmental impact of industrial farming relatively extensively, I want to add that even the harshest critics in the field recognize that doing away with big agriculture entirely is impossible. Growing/finding your own food is fantastic! It can end up being cheaper and tastier to grow or forage it yourself, but it really canāt make a big environmental impact. So if you canāt do either of these things, rest assured that you alone wonāt make or break the planet. The big impacts come from the industry and farms implementing certain practices themselves (ie: no till, less harmful fertilizer practices, diversifying crops, field and crop rotations, etc.)
Tbh the things to hate the most about industrial farming are the giant companies producing monocrops and monopolizing agriculture as a whole.
on the topic of pit rage, could we just... not? jason did all those crimes and murders and saves and ploys with absolutely zero magically induced emotions. he did it for the love of the game as a grieving teenager with the instability of his very much non-magically influenced mind
Truly I feel like fandom latched on to this to sanitize his character. The internet as a whole loves things to be black and white and really really loves when its characters are fully good, or at least justified in their actions. Jason did some fucked up shit, and itās really important when looking at his character arc to realize that. Heās not āDCās Punisherā specifically because he realized he was too extreme and changed accordingly. Ignoring his past actions or trying to explain them away literally makes it impossible to read his post UtRH arc as a redemption story. It also just fully removes any nuance and then youāre left with a boring shell of a character whose only traits are daddy issues and a white streak.
When you acknowledge his fucked-up-shit, later readings of his character show how people are actually able to change behavioral patterns rooted in grief and rage, and how they can become happier because of it. (Or, depending on the run, you can see that the consequences of fucked-up-shit will haunt you, and then you have to learn how to live with yourself)
TLDR: pit rage is dumb and you should let Jason be a deeply flawed young man instead
Congratulations to James T Kirk on his top surgery!ššš
