Here me out.

Let me just get this out because this is something that has been bothering me for so long. I just find it unfair how Kara is treated sometimes by the fandom. It’s frustrating when you see Kara get slandered for things that Lena had done as well. Let’s start at season 3 when Kara got slandered the most because of the kryptonite thing. Yall remember she asked James to check if Lena still had Kryptonite? I bet you dont remember her saying “let’s end this once and for all” meaning to end doubts everyone had with Lena. People got mad bc Lena got mad when she found out but guess what? There was in fact Kryptonite. When Maggie arrested Lena, Kara defended her because she knew Lena would never. She knew Lena didnt have that Kryptonite. To suddenly realize youre wrong must have hurt, to realize that youre best friend does in fact have the one thing that you thought she’d never have and kara being kara went on defensive mode. You cant blame her for feeling the things she felt. Things were said and done but guess what, she apologized. And she geniunely saw Lena’s side of things. She tried to make it better. The same things are happening in season 5. Kara never invalidated Lena’s feelings of being hurt unlike some of yall did with Kara back in s3. She acknowledged her mistakes and even blamed herself for the Lena’s decisions, for where Lena’s path was leading to. And when she finally accepted that she shouldnt blame herself for Lena’s decisions and Lena’s decisions are hers alone, what’s so wrong with that? It was the truth. Lena trapped her with kryptonite in the fortress knowing full well what it felt like to Kara because she was running out of time. What did Kara do after that? Still tried her beat to reach out to Lena even if she was almost hit by kryptonite canons (which Lena never intended to do). People say what Lena said is the truth. That Kara is two faced bc she seems to act all friendly with Lena and cold while as Supergirl. People say that Kara should remember that she is one and the same. But maybe, just maybe it’s the people who should remember that Kara is Supergirl and vise versa? Just because Kara was wearing the sg suit in the fortress doesnt mean she wouldnt react the same as Kara in civillian clothes? Remember the times she reached out to Lena and apologized? That wasn’t just Kara. And god, Kara wasnt blaming Lex for the dissapearance of those people bc he is a luthor. She’s blaming Lex because he is LEX. Something that Lena seems to forget. It’s LEX the person she killed last season bc of the things he might do bc like i said, HE IS LEX. Let’s not forget what he even did in crisis. People say Kara is treating Lena because of her last name. But isn’t Lena doing the same with Kara because she’s a super? Assuming the worst of Kara because ofcourse a super would think the worst of a luthor? Theyre doing this dance of who came first the chicken or the egg but apparently it has already been decided that Kara is the worst. All I’m saying is theyve both done and said things. They’ve both hurt each other whether intentionally or not. I just hate how everyone’s just blindly slandering Kara bc apparently she’s an asshole.

Kara, Linda, and Art

I’ve been discussing with @morallyconflictedcharacters (who provided all of the screencaps in this post) the neglected topic of Kara, Linda, and art.

In S4 we see Linda snooping in Kara’s apartment, and looking at a painting and paintbrush:

We also see that Linda herself has artistic talent, and drew sketches of Supergirl, chess, and Alex Danvers in her journal:

Which leads us back to Kara, in a roundabout way.

Even though in S1 we see paintings in Kara’s apartment, it’s never directly referenced in any dialogue spoken by Kara or any other character:

Kara drawing or painting isn’t mentioned by any character in S2 or S3. Linda picking up a paintbrush in S4 is the closest the show has come to directly acknowledging Kara does paint, and isn’t just fond of art and displaying paintings on easels.

From Linda’s own drawings, maybe it’s not too much of a stretch to say this is something they had in common?

I know Supergirl is all about the action, but it would be a nice aspect of Kara’s backstory and character to explore, bringing it to the foreground as part of a story and not just as a background set detail.

Lena steps out in all her glory. How can someone look that good in a towel, kara doesn’t understand.

Lena arches an eyebrow with an amused smirk. “After years, I still have that effect on you like that first time we met, huh.”

“I uh, um.” Kara doesn’t know what to say. “I don’t understand, Lena. Why are you here?”

“What do you mean? I live here”

Kara could see Lena coming over her and she fights the urge to run away from her and run towards her at the same time. So she just stays still.

“In my apartment?”

“well, it’s not my fault darling.” Kara doesn’t even realize she’d moved her legs until she hit her back against the wall and Lena was slowly leaving little peck of kisses that make Kara’s knees go weak.

Lena gives her a kiss on the lips before walking away. “You’re the one who didn’t want to move in with me until we’re married, honey. so…”

my version of post-crisis. kara is having a hard time figuring out if this is still just a dream. lena and kara are together. but then theres the dilemma if kara will tell lena the truth or not. i suck at summaries but give it a try
