Slam poetry
Normally I wouldnât post one of my poems but I want this message to be heard.
We shouldnât.
By: R. E. Venus(aka chaotic-lilacs)
Formalities, manners.
The first things we are taught is others feelings are more important than spreading the truth.
That we shouldnât be talking about issues in our world if it will spoil our auntâs appetite .
That instead of talking about our sisters depressive episode, we need to focus on the weather.
To be more self aware because you might offend someone.
But it doesnât matter if little Jacob is missing, that is for the news, not the dinner table.
We are trained to be robots of our perfectly constructed world.
Say please, say thank you.
Apologize for that disgusting facts about the animals dying of pollution.
There is still beautiful things out there.
And maybe thatâs true but what will happen when thatâs gone too.
We are taught that silence and destruction is better than a bit of uncomfort even if that is what it takes to save our home.
But what will we say when children do not know what tigers look like because they are gone.
And maybe weâll be too if we donât speak out.
But no, thatâs too sad to think about.
Focus on the present, the future doesnât apply.
But what happens when we can even see three feet in front of our eyes when walking through a city.
The only people I wish to apologize to are the generations of children who wonât know the ocean was once clear water.
If we are even alive.
Iâm sorry, I should have put those images in your head.
