Rishikesh had a good mix of locals and foreigners celebrating Holi together. Almost all of the locals celebrating in the busy areas, guest houses, hotels, and resorts. You walk down any street and you can expect to have powder thrown on you and people enjoying in DJ / loud music. This year very few foreigners are in Rishikesh, yet you will get lots of attention from family tourists, couples, and particularly children. Most shops were closed, although guesthouse restaurants were open. Even our lovely and dedicated hotel staff managed to get out and celebrate and worked the rest of the day in their brightly colored clothes. Raj Resort is one of the favorite places to stay in Rishikesh for families, couples, and especially for children during the Holi celebration.
