Malice - The blood of Demise, part 2: First contact for the Links
Advent calendar 2025, Day 17
Sorry for the long post. ^^;;
The Links will eventually encounter with the Malice. In fact, before they even get together they all have already faced with either Malice or infected beings. Unfortunately, at that moment they had no knowledge of what they were face to face with.
Slight warning: Bit of horror with the short story parts, sickness, mind controlled people, feeling of terror, implied turning into beast, forced feeding, Malice, injection, implied domestic violence

Time: Beast, at the Dragon’s Hoard
Sprite was only ten when he finally found out what truly was going in at Dragon’s Hoard. He had followed the screams while putting all of his knowledge about the place and his sneaking skills into use. Eventually he came to the door and, as quietly as he could, he picked the lock. He knew the door creaked so, much to his own hatred about the situation, he waited for the next scream to drown out the door’s sound. What he saw made him scream.

Twilight: Malice / Beast, in a forest
Little Wolfie, as his mother called him, was five when he last saw her. They had come to the forest out of his request. They had been there often and he knew the local wolf pack. Mom and the man with her, dad-to-be, let him roam into the forest. He was going to be a big brother and he wanted to tell that to the wolf pack. Yet, as he got closer to their place, there came fog. A fog that never had been there… And then there was a raged snarl.

Legend: Sickness, Mind control / Beast, at home
Tariku ran. He was ten and he knew something was thoroughly wrong. His mother had been sick for few days now without anything helping. And now… He shook his head while trying to push away how his father had attacked his mother. He had seen something… Odd in his father. A flash or something. He wasn’t certain. All he could do was to follow his mother’s command and run.

Wild: Sickness, in a forest
They had left that horrid place and yet Link knew they were still being followed. Chased. Whatever those people wanted of them wasn’t something he and his mother wanted to be part of. Yet, they had had to slow down as his mother’s condition worsened day after day. Even though he wasn’t older than five, he already knew a lot about the ways to cook and what kind of combinations could help and, with that knowledge, he had tried to cook anything to help her but the longer she was sick, the harder it was for her to keep the food inside. He knew of hospitals but they couldn’t go to them. They’d be found from there. There was nothing he could do to help.
-.-.-.-
Wind: Beast, at the sea
He was three when his parents finally allowed him into their ship and to sail with them. His little sister was still too young, only been born few months ago. He was excited and did all his parents told him to do. The ship was beautiful and fast. The weather was clear and sunny… Until it wasn’t. And the gigantic squid with WAY too many eyes splashed out of the water and kept twirling around to create a vortex of sorts. All he could do was to stare in shock, awe and fear as his parents screamed commands and ran around the ship to try and get it out of the situation. All he could do was to watch as that enormous tentacle rose from the sea and landed cruelly into the ship while cutting it neatly into two.

Sky: Sickness, at hospital
Moerani was seven when it happened and he knew he would never forget that day. The urgency. The words of “flight accident, birds” were all he really caught from the explanation as he and his father made haste, drove against red lights on full speed and ran into the hospital. He remembers his mother at the room where he couldn’t enter but into where he could see. No-one paid attention into the kid staring through that window. He was crying but he couldn’t tear his gaze off of the scene either. He barely picked the words of “infected birds, flew through them when she abandoned the plane, odd sickness, too swift for any normal disease”.

Four: Mind control, at home
Shiro knew something was wrong the moment he came home from school. He was eleven and he had never seen his mother so frantic and scared. Telling him to leave. To go to his friend’s place… Until she heard her husband’s car pull over and she pulled him along and hid him while telling to stay silent and still no matter what would happen or what he’d hear. The shouting, clear fight, screams… He wishes nothing else than to get those sounds out of his mind.
-.-.-.-
Hyrule: Malice, at home
He was five years old when he stared in horror at the thing on the spoon his mother was holding. He could feel the darkness in it. The coloration already was something that made him sick. The scent was even worse. He trembled as he realized that this was what his mother had been adding into the earlier foods for as long as he could remember. This was what had made him sick at each turn it had been added into there.
-.-.-.-
Wars: Malice, at the Dragon’s Hoard
He was three years old when his parents dragged him away from the other kids. He didn’t know how to feel about it. To be grateful it was him this time around or to be terrified about what he’d end up into. Either way, he wasn’t prepared to what he faced in the underground room. The kid strapped on the metal table. The syringe of some odd goo. Goddesses, he could swear there was golden eyes in that stuff. Yet, he didn’t think twice as he bit his father and dashed to stop the situation. Yet, there wasn’t much he could do to save the kid… Except taking his place. The first attempt of injecting that oddity he could feel pulsing with something sinister ended with bright flash of light. He crashed to the floor and fought against the darkness that threatened to take him under. He couldn’t move or do a thing when he heard his father’s words. “Inject him.” The next thing he knew was the excruciating pain that dropped him into the blissful nothingness.

Notion:
Considering age of the Links:
Some of the ages for the Links might change but the situations won’t. There’s only three Links whose ages won’t change:
- Time
- Twilight
- Wars
The rest six have ages that I’m not yet certain of being correct for all that I have in mind for them.
-.-.-.-
Considering the names of the Links:
As has been noticed, I didn't use the real names of all of the Links. This means that I'm not entirely happy with what I have so far chosen for them and those might change. Those that were used will stay.
- Name Sprite will stay as that's what I've used often but for others that have been either used just "he" or "Link"...... Well.....
If you got name ideas for those unnamed I'd love to hear those! =D
