It’s so funny to see people slander Berdly for saying that Noelle is a simpleton during Mouse Room 3 when the exact quote is literally “You may see her as the simpleton girl next door”.

HE IS LITERALLY POINTING THE FINGER AT KRIS BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THAT KRIS WAS MANIPULATING HER.

Of course, the reasoning behind that was wrong because Berdly is kinda stupid. But if you actually looked at the textbox where he says that, Noelle’s face sprite was literally her laughing one as she says “SIMPLETON?”

You’d think that if Noelle legitimately thought she was getting insulted that she’d have any of the myriad of other face sprites to indicate that.

It really sucks to see people downplaying the potential idea that Berdly might feel left out and abandoned by Noelle even though it’s been a relatively short amount of time in-universe. Have we already forgotten he’s got the social skills and awareness of a rock and that Noelle is quite possibly his only actual friend (besides Kris but that’s more implied than anything) who he may or may not have a stronger attachment too and would react more heavily if he thought she was starting to drift apart?

Of course, it’s natural for friends to drift apart as one develops a romantic relationship, and Berdly wouldn’t have any experience with that, so of course he’d feel scared and confused about it. And apparently he deserves to get fucked for that.

God, I hate this fandom.

Deltarune Chapter 5

As much as I love Berdly being a good friend in Chapter 5, and think that Kris losing touch with their relationships with both Noelle and Susie with them growing closer is tragic due to the double agent shtick…

Did anyone else catch that Berdly is going through the same thing but arguably worse?

Berdly’s only friends are assumedly Noelle (for sure) and Kris (implied).

And ever since Chapter 2, Noelle’s growing further away from Berdly to get closer to Susie while Kris has been growing apart from most people apparently.

And I say Berdly has it arguably worse because no one seems to care as much as people still do care about Kris.

I think it has to suck when everything’s quiet and Berdly’s thinking about how Noelle probably didn’t actually care about him at all, and that he’s worried about Kris’ growing distance due to his friendship with Susie. All of the people he likes grouped up and he’s been left out of the equation, and no one bats an eye because as Queen put it best, ‘he’s annoying’.

I really hope we get some justice for him in the next chapters. He has a legitimate heart of gold underneath the annoying persona he’s created for himself to shield his Gifted Child(TM) heart.

Deltarune post

Everyone knows that Susie’s healing abilities keep growing chapter after chapter, especially if you keep letting her practice her healing spell.

But it’s not just the Dark World. Susie has already ‘healed’ 2 other people than Jackenstein or the party.

Remember? Susie helped rebuild Tenna after he got cleaved by the Knight, and he survived what should’ve been destruction. And Flowery? It’s ambiguous, but if you read the description for the Half Flower in Chapter 3’s second board, it says that even if half of it is gone, “it still stands”. Susie may have saved Flowery.

And that makes 2 things Susie ‘healed’ outside of her actual healing magic.

The transition from violent axe wielder to this?

Anyone else wanna headcanon that Susie’s future job is a repairwoman?

Now that it’s been kind of a while after Chapter 5’s launch, I’m not putting a spoiler warning.

One of the hardest hitting jabs in the entirety of Chapter 5 is when Susie asks if she hurt Noelle’s phone when she threw it during the Lake scene.

Susie asks if she HURT Noelle’s phone.

The same monster who, when told to treat property like people, said that she’ll aim for the vitals next time.

She asked if she HURT an inanimate object.

Susie’s growth as a person makes me violently ill and why she’s one of my favorite characters next to Berdly. She’s 100% the hero of Deltarune, and I need Chapter 6 already.

Deltarune Chapter 5 final boss musings

Flowery’s flavor and dialogue text during the final fight actually kinda fucks me up really hard because like… goddamnit man.

“Flowery’s little sister Orange and kitchen partner Green appeared!”

“Flowery taught Aqua how to hold a knife safely!”

Orange: “Asgore… if I’m courageous… you’ll be proud of me, right?”

Orange: “Why won’t you LOSE?!”

Flowery: “Don’t cry, Orange. Tears are for a wedding’s day…”

“Orange rides on Flowery’s fist as they punch together!”

Flowery looks on at Orange and Green proudly!

Flowery shows Seth how to be more confident!

Flowery’s sparring partner Yellow and dancing rival Blue appeared!

Deltarune Chapter 5 fan theory musing

Okay, so, after discovering and being fairly convinced by the Kriselle Knight theory from Chapter 5’s Weird Route happenings, I’ve thought about it a bit more and realized that the portion of the theory that speculates that Toby’s ‘one ending’ statement is due to the Knight in Weird Route’s climax goes back in time somehow to set everything in motion has a bit of a flaw (besides whatever ones you might be thinking of if you don’t believe in the theory).

There’s no actual guarantee that a Weird Route will ever happen.

I find it strange that a normal route would just get plagued by a Weird Route’s Knight no matter what, despite the insistence of the ‘one ending’.

Then, I recognized something while watching people react to Chapter 5’s Shadow Crystal Boss (I can’t see the horizon…).

Remember that there’s a pretty direct, and it’s the most direct one of all 5, correlation between the boss and Kris. Specifically, that the relationship between Mew Mew’s ghost and body a parallel Kris’ relationship between them and the Soul, which I outlined in my theory in another post.

But looking back, every boss had something for Kris to take from.

Jevil’s ramblings about freedom, Spamton’s inability to escape being a puppet, the Knight as a whole considering they’re working with them, Gerson’s lessons on following your own path.

Which is why I mean to put another theory forward:

What if the Knight in the Normal Route is actually a Kris that didn’t experience the Shadow Crystal bosses?

Work with me here:

A Kris that never experiences the Shadow Crystal bosses would never have had those existential questions in their head (Chapter 1-2), and the subsequent existential answers (Chapter 4-5) concerning the relationship to the Soul that they apparently need to function properly.

Maybe if you don’t face all the Shadow Crystal bosses and learn all those lessons, Kris inevitably crashes out and completely goes wild, somehow transforming into the Knight when rejecting the Soul, then goes through the time traveling thing of the original Kriselle Knight theory, becoming the Knight of the normal route (while the Weird route is something entirely? A time loop technically doesn’t have an ending, I dunno I’m firing from the hip here)

But if you do claim all the Shadow Crystals, Kris has learned from their experiences to actually be able to take the steps needed to trust the Soul and also their friends to break free from the loop of becoming the next cycle’s Knight, leading to the one and only ending of the loop’s break!

I dunno, am I just sounding crazy?

Okay so like, does anyone else think it’s actually so goddamn fucked up that for as goofy as absolute fuck as Pink’s fight as in terms of the actual happenings, it’s just genuinely Kris’ own struggle with the soul straight up?

Like, Mew Mew trying and trying to enforce their will onto their body and ignoring its own wants and needs, but finding that doing so is only fucking up both of them?

We LITERALLY started this chapter with Kris crawling back through the window.

AND THEIR BODY WAS TURNING GREEN. MY THEY WAS DECOMPOSING WITHOUT THE SOUL????

I genuinely genuinely cannot wait for the next chapters when we actually have to confront Kris, soul to body, and try to CONNECT and accept the partnership we have. They need us to apparently live, and we probably need them to exist in the very world of Deltarune.

The specific mirroring I find between Pink and Kris’ situations is that while Pink was the soul trying to force what they wanted on their body (Mew Mew), Kris is essentially doing the same. While we as the soul are the ones puppeting their body to do what we want, the generally accepted canon is that the soul still allows Kris to do things how they want to do them, and say and do things they would say or do normally. Maybe there’s a few outliers, but there’s very obviously correct sets of dialogue that Kris wants to say almost all the time.

Therefore, it’s more logical to point to Kris as being like Pink, who is ignoring both our and their own needs to both our detriments for the sake of this strange goal that we still have no idea what’s going with (assuming it’s not the theory I had of cleansing Dess Knight). I think Kris experiencing that boss battle can hopefully be some kind of catalyst to get them to finally start thinking that maybe there is peace to be made with the soul, us, and that together, we can save them and all the people they care about.

Because as Pink says, she hated herself, but she had to learn how to love both her body AND herself to be together.

Maybe that’s what Kris needs to learn to, to love both themselves and us. Because it’s pretty clear that Kris’ feelings towards themselves and us aren’t as different as we might think. The kind of self-hatred they must have for working with the ‘bad guys’ that Susie keeps getting hurt by, the one friend he cares the most about? It must be brutal.

We have to help them learn to love both us and themselves. That’s how we find our happy ending.

Deltarune Chapter 5 spoilers

I think it’s actually fucked up how Flowery isn’t lying when he says he genuinely had the TRUE power of friendship with him, and that Kris specifically has a husk of it with the Fun Gang. All throughout the chapter, while Flowery was ragebaiting Ralsei, he still jabbed at Kris a fair amount and distrusted his intentions. Of course, in the end, he said that he knew that Kris has the light the world needed alongside Susie, but it’s interesting.

Even though the rest of the Fun Gang has elevated and upgraded the bonds of trust they have with Kris to the point of blind faith, Kris is still refusing to elaborate whatever it is they’re bound to secrecy for. Both Susie and Ralsei, either implicitly or explicitly, have declared their 100% trust in Kris and anything they do, but they still haven’t broken their silence about whatever it is they’re double crossing the Gang for. Mind you, this isn’t a thing we’re stopping them from doing.

Once again, like what I said on my analysis on Pink/MewMew being Kris/Soul, Kris is the missing link. They have to be the one to trust their own friends with the truth; to trust US with the truth. So that we could help them however we can.

Deltarune Chapter 5 Spoilers, both normal and Weird routes

A criticism I’ve seen with Susie and Noelle being a thing and the whole festival and lake scenes are that they as a couple seem really forced and that it feels like we’ve rushed way too fast into it.

I genuinely think that’s the point.

Note: I personally like Noelle/Susie most but this isn’t about that. This is a story discussion.

The name of the OST during the lake scene is titled “I guess I’m in love”. Peep the wording.

“I guess”

Not ‘I think’, ‘I guess’.

I think that’s a legitimate hint that the state of their relationship isn’t proper one.

To me, it goes like this. Noelle is the driving force behind the relationship, who was already practically obsessed with Susie even before the events of Chapter 1 (as evidenced by all the dialogue that shows she doesn’t thing Susie is all that bad and takes the thing about her eating chalk seriously). We’ll get to Susie later but I think this obsession is fueled mainly by Noelle’s desire for chaos.

In the Weird Route, Noelle spelled it out that she was enamored by Kris’ ‘weird’ tendencies because she hated the monotony that her life had become ever since Dess went missing and her dad got ill. The Weird route happened because Noelle caught on to the player’s weird actions and wanted THAT. To not be Noelle anymore, at its worst stage.

But before that? She wanted Susie.

And who was Susie?

The social pariah who did whatever the fuck she wanted.

I don’t think Noelle genuinely finds love in her heart for Susie, but for what she represents. The chaos she’s been wanting, the freedom to do whatever she wants and not care. The choice to spread her wings and fly.

Of course, I’m not saying there’s absolutely no love on Noelle’s part, but the main basis is how much Susie just does whatever she wants, which is what Noelle always wanted to do. Susie inviting her for the group study meeting behind Berdly’s back, Susie telling Berdly to shove it and throwing her phone, and Susie deciding to play the guitar. All of this, Noelle felt hesitant to because it conflicted with her perfect girl persona, and that excited her when they went through with it anyway.

As for Susie, I genuinely think a large part of why she’s grown so attached to Noelle in Chapter 5 is because she was hurting and looking for comfort.

In the previous chapter, Susie and Noelle’s relationship was still mostly on Noelle, but they did progress slightly thanks to them finding shared interests in horror movies during the blackout scene. Susie probably didn’t fully feel in love with Noelle, but had the little spark in her judging by her reaction to the ‘Love finds the girl’ prophecy she saw.

Of course, we know how Chapter 4 ended. With Susie being betrayed by the one adult she genuinely respected and probably kinda loved. And she absolutely was stung by it, considering her reaction to trying to go back to Kris’ home during the festival. Not to mention, a tragedy is due thanks to the prophecy glass she shattered (btw, I’m like 90% sure it’s that Castle Town will have to be sealed away).

So, what happens then? Susie’s hurt as fuck and aching inside, and turns to the one person she is probably could; Noelle. The spark in her heart for her was stoked artificially by the pain of Toriel’s betrayal and the horrible news that we don’t know yet, pushing her to find some comfort with Noelle (which does end up going pretty well… until the end of course).

Then, the call comes in.

Rudy’s fallen.

And this is where the relationship shatters.

Noelle will be in absolute devastation mode for her dad, and Susie will have absolutely no idea how to help her through it. Their relationship will reveal itself for the crutches they were to both to them, and they’ll break apart. Because it wasn’t built to handle that pressure.

It’s here that the story can either go with them learning how love genuinely works and their relationship healing through the pain of the coming hardships, or them downgrading to just good friends after coming to realize that they can’t work as a couple. Either way, I think it’ll work. The story is set up that I can see either thing happening and don’t really have a preference which, even though I do like Susie/Noelle.

(Slight spoilers) CHAPTER 5 PROVED BERDLY THE GOAT

I’m only slightly exaggerating, but like, the time Berdly had in Chapter 5 was enough to solidify that he’s a GOOD GUY. He went through with his shtick of ‘Who will be my date?’ but respected each and every no he was given, and when told to back off, HE DOES! No fuss, no muss! And even more, DUDE WANTED TO WINGMAN! HE’S A SUPPORTIVE FRIEND! HE’S THE BEST BOY! MY FAVORITE BIRD! HE’S JUST SOCIALLY INEPT BUT HE’S GOT A HEART OF GOLD! I TOLD Y’ALL

MHA spoilers about Hifumi Toga

For being the character who ties with Mineta as being the most rapey feeling character (grape boy gets no passes but at least NOBODY liked him for it), she really was allowed the easiest route out.

I think Toga’s sacrifice in the final season of MHA is probably one of the worst writing tropes that I will never ever like; the ultimate sacrifice in place of genuine redemption.

It’s the laziest, most disrespectful trope I’ve ever had the displeasure of experiencing in media.

Engineering a scenario in which the villain is allowed to commit an act of sacrifice that ends their life to save/help the heroes is absolutely bottom tier writing.

You essentially saddle the recipient/s of the sacrifice with the unrepayable debt of a death, no matter the horrific actions they’ve done beforehand, and completely escaping from the intended consequences of their actions by going out on their own terms.

I understand the angle of, Toga was one of those people with a quirk that fell through a crack in society because nobody bothered to coach her through it and that ultimately she was only led to villainy because of that. But like… she murdered a ton of people. And also helped facilitate in tons of other murders by being a league member. And is very rapey.

Genuinely believe that she should’ve been turned into a stain on the ground. Painfully. She of all people did not deserve a peaceful death where she got what she wanted.

If that’s too much though, I would’ve been fine if she just didn’t get her last laugh. I never like it when a villain essentially traps their victims in a state of “well, she was terrible in every single way possible… but she did save my life/saved our lives”. I was already fine with them going “This isn’t about forgiving. This is about understanding her.” And like, cool. I’m down for that. I just wish that Toga could’ve been treated the same way as the other villains, being that they’re understood, but they faced the consequences.

She faced nothing. And I don’t like it.
