Happy Pride 2025. This post is 5 years old, and I’m in equal parts proud of it, and annoyed by how chaotic and tacky it is. So I’ve decided to make a new version: one where all the additions are in a single reblog, and with integrated image descriptions (thank you @oddler14 for providing most of these back then!). I would love it if people reblogged this version instead, even if I understand the previous version is much more widespread on Tumblr.

I am one of the people who, for a long time, didn’t feel queer enough. Specifically, as a nonbinary person, I struggled for a long time to believe I was trans enough to even deserve to label myself as trans. This post was the start of my journey unlearning that shame and guilt, which was caused in part by the gatekeepy rhetoric that was predominant in many online spaces. Today, I am confident and joyous in my trans, nonbinary, queer body and mind.

To my 20-year-old self, and to anyone else who might need to hear this: you are queer enough. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. And always, always remember:

We need a Sherlock Holmes adaptation that takes advantage of the comedic potential of a ‘pay what you can’ system.

Possible ideas:

Tickets for a concert that Sherlock Holmes is really excited about but cannot go to due to schedule stuff.

A dissatisfied client sending a large amount of food that both Sherlock, Watson, and Mrs. Hudson casually mentioned not liking at the beginning of the story.

Candy that’s given to the irregulars.

Chickens.

Something that not even Sherlock Holmes can figure out what it should be used for. (It’s given to Mycroft for help.)

Compost manure.

Not to mention, Sherlock Holmes in the original book is a big ally for lower class people and just marginalized folks in need in general, so it would make a lot of sense for his character, and I imagine that he would really enjoy the unexpected element to it.

A client gives them a truly absurd amount of a very specific food because that is all they can give. Holmes does not particularly care for it, so Watson takes it upon himself to eat it all within a week because it was worth a lot to the client, and he does not want to waste good food.

Immediatly, word goes around that "The nice Baker Street gentlemen truly go wild for this particular snack. No really, Mrs Hudson said they went through basketfuls of the stuff in like a week!"

And for the next half a year that is all they ever get as payment for their cases.

Monday, Jan 26th: creator signups open for both the auction and the craft bazaar

Sunday, Feb 8th: creator signups close for the main auction; craft bazaar signups remain open!

Friday, Feb 27th: browsing period begins, craft bazaar opens

Tuesday, March 3rd, 8am ET: auction bidding opens; craft bazaar signups close

Saturday, March 7th, 8pm ET: auction bidding closes

Wednesday, Mar 18th: auction donations due; craft stalls close

Summary: Sherlock wakes up in a hospital bed, Mycroft by his side. When the older Holmes brother realises that Sherlock recalls a limited amount of the last year's events, he is more than a little concerned. What shocks Mycroft beyond belief, though, is the fact that Sherlock has no memory of a certain flatmate and friend.
