Encourage yourself towards a more expansive ethos. Do not deny yourself the life you are destined to live. One free of self effacement, doubt and discouragement. A life that is centered on the betterment of all humankind. This is not the life of a superhero. This is your birthright. It is your inheritance from generations of ancestors. There is a gift inside all of you. A light of hope, and beacon of goodness, a vestige of compassion. Embrace your capability to do more. Embrace your ability to be more. Do not turn your back on your soul’s calling. Do what you can, where you can, when you can. It is the small and seemingly innocuous actions which yield greater returns in the long run. You deserve a life of happiness. Cultivate that. Create a space for happiness to manifest as a byproduct of your core ethos. You are someone’s world. Act like it. Honor the man or woman you were born to be.

A hip-hop dance performance is not supposed to be some self-absorbed cathartic assemblage of rudimentary aoristic movement patterns to the hottest recognizable song. We owe the audience more than that. We give audiences something they’re not expecting from a hip-hop dance performance…something to think about. I think an audience deserves to be challenged mentally and emotionally. If an audience member cannot recognize themselves in a dancer onstage then we have not done our job.

Applause!
Being applauded does not imply that our work is done, nor does it mean that we are moving in the right direction. It merely means that our audience have identified with a part of what they saw.
As the Artist it is now our responsibility to ourselves, to find out why we are liked. Is it because the audience attaches to the mediocre, or the excellent part of us?
