âOccasionally. I mean, who doesnât love scarring people for life every now and then? Iâm pretty sure my assistants at the club know that all too well.â Pierce and Parker had probably seen and dealt with far more of Hades than they ever wanted to. But hey, thatâs what they get for being such loyal little shits. Hades snorted. âWell if that happens, I justââ he swiped his finger along his chest as if he was scooping up an invisible glob of egg salad. âNo mess. No hassle. Less laundry for me to deal with. I mean, hey, itâs not like Iâm eating it off the floor.â Which is something he had done at least once in his life. It was his own floor, though, so Hades didnât care too much.
Hades grinned crookedly at the man. Cynical. He liked that. âDonât forget senseless gambling. I mean, I am located right next door to one of the only casinos in town. You get your booze, your babes, your cigs, and then teeter on over to the casino to lose the rest of your money. Thatâs my kind of life, man,â Hades scoffed as he took a bite of his food. âSounds like you might need a vacation though, bub. Maybe get some of that fresh air ân shit out in the wilderness. My boy Nico loves going out campingâŠhelps clear the mind.â
Shrugging listlessly, though mostly out of fatigue from his run than anything, Hades reached for his water. âItâs been alright. Kinda hot for a run, but I figure it helps rid the body of toxins or whatever to sweat a little.â And lord knows he had plenty of toxins to lose after last nightâs bender. âPlus not having to work until tonight is a bonus. Gives me more time to get shit done, yâknow what I mean?â
âYeah, canât say I have much experience there,â Eric gave a little shrug, âUnless you count when I told my very religious grandmother that boys and girls are both attractive. Yeah, she was pretty scarred, to say the least.â He had put his poor grandmother through hell with all his life decisions and comments about certain topics. But, luckily he had a cute little cousin who was always on her good side.
âFair enough,â Eric nodded, âI guess that works as well as anything else.âÂ
He gave a grin, âOf course, the gambling, how could I forget? Yeah, life is good when you live it that way.â Eric couldnât agree more; he did need more fresh air. âEh, my boatâs been out of commission for a while, so I guess I have been stuck indoors more than Iâd like. But, yeah, Nico has the right idea, camping is a great way to clear the head.â
It was a little hot out, in his opinion. The perfect day to go sailing if his mast hadnât been cracked by some tree that fell. âIt also clears out your pores. Unclogs them, or something. At least thatâs what my gym teacher used to say after making us run for an hour in the 90 degree weather.â Eric thought on it, âYeah, I get what youâre saying. Getting shit done early is the best part of working nights.â
