they cut so many important scenes from the new episode that were good for character development and story building but kept Bailey walking down that backrooms ass hallway much longer than necessary 😭
What is going on in the editing and writers room bro
Like cmon we don’t need to see her clicking her heels for that long when we could’ve been seeing Nyla give an oh-so-rare apology to Miles💔
I wish more people talked about the patients after each episode. Like yea I too enjoy all the silly ships and the new tidbits about each staff character, but what about the people who are there on what could easily be the worst day of their life?
(spoilers! rant below)
Like, we got almost a full new storyline with Ilana, the sexual assault survivor. She’s so strong for pushing through the exam even though she was so scared and uncomfortable. Then to crumble because it was her ‘friend’ who assaulted her, and she didn’t know how to feel? Oh my goodness 💔
Or Roxie, who is very clearly feeling like a burden on her family and seems to want to let go while her husband is trying to ensure her that he will always fight for her., especially when she can’t.
And the deaf character, Harlow, is facing so much ableism. She’s getting increasingly frustrated and scared because she feels like no one is listening to her and taking the time to try to communicate. She has no idea what’s happening around her, and no one is there to explain anything to her in a way she can easily understand.
All these character have such well thought out and detailed stories, I hate that they go unnoticed so often just because “Omg this character said something about this other character I ship them with!”
Yes, I love mohabbot, garsantos, hucklerobby, whatever. But I just want people to give some love to the patients and their struggles🥲
I’m too brainrotted by Heated Rivalry to be watching the Winter Olympics right now
They just went to hockey and keep bringing up the Sochi 2014 Olympics (Shane and Ilya’s Olympics) AND the USA uniforms look a lot like the Metros uniforms 😰
ALSO they keep switching from hockey to men’s figure skating and the top USA pick is a blonde guy named ILIA
It’s kinda frying me that when Taylor Swift originally went on the Graham Norton show people were saying that she was “a controlling, manipulative, narcissist” who had a “slip up” and that Lewis Capaldi & Cillian Murphy “saw right through her” and were “annoyed with her” meanwhile everyone on that damn show was creating a music video with her LMAO
Sorry that’s just so funny and it proves that randoms on the internet know nothing about these people
Look I’m not a Bailey hater at all but I’m very glad John acknowledged that her need for movement is becoming an issue.
Now, wanting to travel and do new things isn’t necessarily a bad thing in itself, but when you are asking a partner who isn’t wired that way to do that for you it becomes one.
John is settled in his life in LA, he loves his job and his community. She can’t ask him to uproot that for something that only benefits her and hurts him.
Especially when it’s will absolutely mean moving AGAIN when she finds her next shiny new thing.
So far I’ve completed the prologue and part 1 of Heated Rivalry and I gotta say…I kinda like the show better.
Now, I’m trying not to compare the show to the book too much as I’m reading, but I noticed a few things.
(spoilers, duh. more below, happy reading!)
1. The biggest thing that stood out to me was how the show made Ilya so much more yearning OML (while still keeping his playfulness). In both the shower scene & the Vegas rooftop scene in the show Shane leave first and Ilya stays, following after him slightly later. But in the book Ilya is the first to leave in both situations and Shane stays, trying to compose himself. I also think Ilya is MUCH more tender and guiding in the show. He teases Shane but knows when he needs to be serious and comforting, in the book it just seems like teasing is almost all he’s doing (as of the timeline compared to the show).
2. I definitely prefer their first time in the show. It felt way more tender and I liked that it was in private (Shane’s apartment/condo) rather than it being at a hotel in the book (like usual). It just felt more monumental in the show because they didn’t have to be SO worried about being found out and could just relax.
3. DIALOGUE. Man, the dialogue choices in the show are so many levels above the book. No hate to Rachel at all but a lot of the dialogue felt unnatural and dare I say a little cringe (maybe I’m just not used to reading this genre). One thing I’ve always said is that the show makes cliche moments feel natural. The stuff that’s word for word from the book is done perfectly and the stuff that’s slightly or completely changed is done even better.
4. I enjoyed seeing little bits from the beginning of the books that show up later on in the show (maybe the books too, but I haven’t gotten there yet). Like the “his mother was Japanese or something, right?” (Page 24) which is almost verbatim what Ilya says at the cottage when they’re eating the burgers. He played dumb to seem like he wasn’t completely obsessed with Shane since before they even met 😭.
5. Shane’s denial is undeniably hilarious in the book while still making you feel bad for him. I feel like Rachel does a pretty good job of keeping it humorous but also sympathetic. (See photo below for a moment I laughed way too hard at)
So far I’m absolutely loving the new season of The Pitt!
(spoilers, duh. more below, happy reading!)
I’m loving seeing little tidbits of how last season’s characters have developed more meaningful relationships with each other off-screen (the toothbrush comment!).
I’m very glad to see how the Pittlings have grown more confident in their roles as medical providers and have begun to impart the wisdom they have learned from their superiors onto the fresh faces. (Whitaker's speech for the DNR patient was an amazing moment.)
I didn't like Langdon much last season, but he's quickly earning back my favor. I respect him for spending 10 (still ongoing) months in rehab and counseling, as well as telling Louie the truth! Truly wish the best for him if he stays on this path, but one question, how did he not lose his license lol?
As for the patient stories so far, I’m very invested in the little girl, the abandoned baby, and the deaf woman in the waiting room. (Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate the older “stoner” lady who was so kind to Mohan!)
I’m still trying to get a read on all the new characters. We’ve gotten a couple looks at their personalities so far but not much on their backgrounds. Time will tell I suppose.
I’m iffy about the new attending, Al-Hashimi, but I would be pushy too if I were being brushed off by a *male* doctor who I’m supposed to be taking over for and he isn’t giving me *any* info (No hate to Robby, of course! Love him!). I don’t love her always wanting to provide the Pittlings with the answers (I prefer Robby’s method for sure), but everyone has their own teaching philosophy, I get it!
Emma (the new nursing shadow) is definitely a little timid, but I think she seems to have what it takes! I like her! She reminds me of Season 1 Javadi a bit.
I’m not super sure about either of the new med students…they definitely both have their quirks, I guess! I would love to hear more about their backgrounds to get a hint at why they act how they do.
Overall, a fire episode! I expected nothing less. Super excited to see how this season will pan out!
Bro the Heated Rivalry finale had me crying at the most mundane things. Like why am I suddenly bursting into tears because they’re watching the sunrise together?
Lately my motivation for finishing finals work has been rewarding myself with x reader fanfiction every time I finish a unit. Highly recommend, I’ve never gotten so much work done in my life.
Everybody Scream: Title track for a reason. I was obsessed when it first dropped. Imagine the energy in the room while seeing it live?
One of the Greats: Like this even more than the title track when it dropped. Obsessed with how long it is. Sexy. Powerful. Dark. Vampire anthem imo.
Witch Dance: My claimed track. Did not disappoint. So beautiful yet saddening. I love how it takes you on the journey with her and has so much storytelling.
Sympathy Magic: Didn't listen to it much when it came out, but I enjoy it very much. Soooo orchestral and powerful in an instrumental way instead of a lyrical way (but definitely that too).
Perfume and Milk: Sooooooo sensual. Like literally. The way the objects are described appeals to all my senses. I can literally smell, touch, hear, and taste everything she's describing. Lyrically amazing.
Buckle: Much calmer than anything else so far. A song you want to sway to. It's so sad and emotional to me. The similes and metaphors are so good here.
Kraken: Reminded me so much of mermaids, probably just the ocean imagery tho. Again, SO powerful. Def makes me feel like a kraken, and I love it. Chorus is on point.
The Old Religion: Starting off with piano and moving into synths(?) omgggg. I'm not personally someone who has religious trauma, but if it affected me this way?? Good luck to those who do have some. I'm actually crying.
Drink Deep: Absolutely haunting in the beginning. Love the wind chimes and drums. Last chorus and outro blew me away. The power in her voice ughhhhh. I'm a sucker for some choral singing, and this album is 100% bringing that.
Music by Men: Knew this was gonna be a banger by the title. Wayyyy softer and calmer than I expected. Which I think is an important message symbolically. The romantic part of me is not having a fun time.
You Can Have It All: Again, very full of storytelling and appeals to senses sooooo well. Love the background vocals. Makes me feel like I'm performing a ritual with a coven. Beat drop was INSANE.
And Love: Was expecting something similar to Cosmic Love (fully based on the name), and I feel like I kinda got it. Sonically, at least. The harp in the background is very reminiscent of Cosmic Love. I love all the different ways love is described in this. It's so creative yet so real. Short little soft song to finish off the album, perfection.
Overall: Top Five (in no particular order) gotta be Witch Dance, One of the Greats, Kraken, You Can Have It All, and Sympathy Magic. The Old Religion follows very closely. The rest were beautiful, don't get me wrong, but these were my standouts. This album is so fun, sad, sexy, angry, dark, powerful, and witchy. I want to dance and cry and scream all at the same time. It embodies everything it's trying to be perfectly, and dare I say it's her witchiest album. Easily a 10/10.
Chat, I'm desperately trying to be more creative right now (and also trying to grow my blog).
Please let me know if there is anything you would like to see from me. This could be art, opinionated think pieces, analyses on specific topics, headcanon lists, or fan fiction.
However, I haven't written anything creative like fanfic in a very long time, so I make no promises that it will be good, but I will try!
