The awkward moment when you realize you had a better life before you met your step dad and suddenly everything clicks into place like how your parents ignore obvious signs that you're not okay mentally. Like how you break down easily and can't sit still for a long time unless you're fixated on something, or even the fact you can't sit still at all and you try your hardest to please your peers and be nice to people around you even though you're 90% sure you have unchecked anger issues. How you have to keep your hands occupied at all times and can't think properly without running around/fiddling with something. How, because of all the terrible people you've met and thus said people have betrayed you and turned their back on you, you find it hard to properly forgive someone after they've wronged you but you still trust people easily even after this. How you hate certain sounds/feelings like the sound of people chewing or the feel of something crunchy inside a soft food. How your parents can't accept the fact that you hate certain foods like tomatoes because "You eat foods and condiments with tomatoes all the time" without stopping to consider that the hatred for said thing is completely reasonable and has a proper explanation for why you hate said thing. How your parents completely disregard your fears and boundaries without stopping to think "Wow, my daughter really hates doing this thing for a completely reasonable reason, I'll call it unreasonable and force her to do said thing!" Like, no, dad. My discomfort of being even semi-naked around you is because I hate people seeing my body. I hate my own body, FATHER. How you try your hardest to hold onto friendships even though you know they won't work out because you're subconsciously afraid of losing another friend, as terrible as a person they might be. How you're scared to be yourself around your own family because the 'you' that your friends know would be considered disrespectful to your parents. Even how you become angry when forced to do something like chores without considering that you're possibly subconsciously stressed or tired.
