Why do you like spideychelle? Genuine question, no sarcasm or mockery. What do you like about it?

What a way to ask this question! I didn’t realize liking spideychelle was assumed to be sarcastic or mocked and am fascinated as to why you phrased this in this way.

The short answer: I like spideychelle— meaning MCU Peter and MJ— because I love Peter and MJ.

The long answer:

I have loved Peter and MJ for decades. I love their love. I love the way they complement each other. I love their shared histories and stories, how they both put on masks to hide their truest selves and yet with each other, find a soft place to land. I love that they CHOOSE each other— across every universe— not because they’re fated or meant to be or the only person they could be with. If anything, I think there’s a strong case to be made for each of them being with other people and being capable of living full, beautiful, wonderful lives together.

They choose each other not because destiny says so, but because they do. And in that choice, become exactly what the other needs.

I love every iteration of Peter and MJ and the MCU’s version is no different. I DON’T love the name spideychelle to differentiate them (high key hate it entirely) because they are Peter and MJ. That’s it. Full stop. Their love looks different and over MANY years, I’ve talked a lot about missed opportunities, bad writing decisions, and horrendous mismanagement of each of their characters have had in relation to each other— much less entities unto themselves.

But I love them. I love Peter and MJ. I loved those characters long before the MCU versions and I will love them long after it’s been rebooted another three times. I love their potential. I love what they represent. I also really love the way they’ve been able to make us BELIEVE in them, despite having little to work with.

I love my babies!
