brief intro post !!

- arya, 20, south asian, he/she prns. this is a sideblog, i follow back from @ailuroffeine

- other stuff i like: the magicians, the hunger games, batman comics, women 🌷

- idgaf about canon!bellarke or canon!clexa. i have my own versions in my mind that are so far removed from canon that it’s not fair of me to even associate with the actual canon pairings

- i’m ridiculously critical of the 100. so much so that people may even question why i like it. i like the concept! and i have my favorite characters! that’s enough for me!

- continuing that line of thought: a lot of my blog will be rewriting/reworking the 100 to be far less culturally insensitive & make more sense to me. if you take issue with this, just block me.

the truth is that i will never take pike-era bellamy characterization seriously because it’s baffling to me that the same character who hallucinated hundreds of people calling him a murderer & saying he deserves to die for (inadvertently) getting people killed would end up helping slaughter hundreds of innocent people under the guise of “protecting his people”

the thing about octavia from the 100 is that she would notttt be that okay after being locked in a room her entire life. she would not be flirting and having fun on day one. she would be fucked up she would not know how to talk to people other than bellamy she would be overwhelmed from all the people around her and the lights and sounds. she would be scared. idk maybe the teenage rebellion would indeed win out over all that idk but still she would not have been that well adjusted. i think she should have been crazier she should’ve crashed out even more. and like, she does, especially in times when she’s locked in somewhere again. or when her life is threatened or she’s mad or determined. for sure it shows as the series goes on and i love that. but they should’ve let her be even crazier especially at the beginning of the show. and they should’ve let her kill even more people

my bell hasn’t rlly changed in terms of base appearance LOL!! hes just deaged in my AU (19)… i like to think he hammered in the Whatever The Hell We Want mentality for himself so hard that he caved & got a few stick n pokes + piercings :P there is a veeeerry tiny star under his ear that i think he got for his mama… the Rest will be revealed when i inevitably do fullbody refs for everyone

there are a lot of attempts in the 100 to draw parallels between the Grounders and indigenous peoples (with the Mountain Men even calling the former s*vages) & ultimately they fall flat for a variety of reasons, the most glaring one being that there are 0 indigenous cast members (with significant roles; if minor characters are portrayed by indigenous actors, im totally blanking on who).

there’s also the fact that they try to blend south asian spirituality with it, cast non-native people to play the commanders with the most amount of screentime/plot importance (lexa & madi; not blaming the actresses here), and overall just do a terrible job of handling them

i don’t even know if that’s what you’d call it but there’s nothing more alluring to me than 2 characters who are not attracted to each other fucking each other pretending or imagining they’re fucking someone else. and peak is when they’re both thinking about the same person

idc if it gets my dyke card revoked but because “not attracted to each other” is key here one of my favorite takes on this is like one of them having an incompatible sexual orientation with the other and screwing anyways because the other person has some sort of connection/closeness to the person they’re both in love with
