my least favorite erasure of peter parker friendship is flash thompson. peter and flash went through so much in the comics, from highschool rivals to begrudging friends (crushing over the same girl multiple times lol), flash bettered himself and peter realized his view of himself and others wasn’t as candid as he thought, that second chances are warranted even to people he didn’t like. they become friends, they even become roomies! flash and peter stand by one another, in spite of peter’s highs and very low lows, down to the whole hobgoblin debacle. when peter gets married, flash is his best man! yet the movies pay him dust, reducing him to a dumb jock or giving them a good moment but fundamentally ignoring flash post-highschool. they were friends too, good friends!
School and housing and basic food should be provided by the state because a lot of people are being held back from their true calling by parents who will only let them stay in their house if they go to law school
Also human rights or whatever but we only need so many law students
You can really tell that every actor in the Hadestown proshot was having so much fun reprising their roles, except for Amber Gray who I believe was genuinely posessed by the soul of a 20th century alcoholic in a failing marriage and appeared to be barely holding back tears for the entire 2.5 hour musical.
My latest cartoon for New Scientist
To be clear, this isn't a bit. This is what they actually did. "Its too late" is the new "Climate change isn't real"... And its still a lie!
Every serious climate scientist agrees that there is no such as thing as too late, just as there is no such thing as too early. We should have done a lot more than we have to fight climate change, and the world will suffer for our inaction, but there is no point of no return. We can always work to reduce the amount of suffering that occurs, and eventually turn things around to the point where our planet is healing once again. Do not believe anyone who says it's "too late".

Someone will say "as a queer person in the heart of empire, my life is in danger every day" and you'll find out they're a developer for Amazon and live in San Francisco or Seattle or some shit, and then you'll meet a trans girl from Alva, OK who's like "Yeah, things are pretty good. AutoZone moved me to full-time."
Someone in a queer group in my current blue city said that they didn't like expressions of solidarity because it "diluted their oppression".
#That's what I mean when I say the foundation of feminism and queer community should not fixate on victimhood #Once you feel that our suffering is our shared experience an not our love then our suffering becomes vital to the culture #I don't want a culture where suffering is vital #I want a culture where love is celebrated #The suffering is an imposition not a prerequisite #And yeah I sure fucking hope our oppression is diluted bitch you WANT us freebasing the uncut shit???
Did you hear a new love language just dropped? yeah its crazy. Its called just fuckin biting them.
reblogging this but shaking my head the whole time to show i don't believe in love languages
Don't even talk to me about Jeph Loeb like if you're a Jeph Loeb fan genuinely get out of my vicinity. It's not like his racism is unique or anything but Loeb's sinophobia & anti-Asian racism is WELL documented (and not at all surprising if you pay attention to which characters he refuses to write!).
you can literally see fictional cops being Like That all the time it's just framed as narratively Correct and Necessary.
You don't have to laugh at "girl math" or "girl dinner" or "I'm just a girl" jokes. You don't have to laugh at misogynistic humor that demeans women. You don't have to go along with it. You don't even have to sit there awkwardly pretending you didn't hear anything. You are allowed to speak up and say something.
You don't have to be a jerk about it. The most effective yet civil way of dealing with harmful "humor" is just pretending you don't get the joke and asking them to explain. "I don't get it, what's girl math? What's a girl dinner? What do you mean by you're just a girl? Can you explain the joke to me?"
And if you're feeling bold, you can just say (or follow up with) "I think that's misogynistic". That's allowed. You don't have to quietly endure misogynistic "jokes", you can call a spade a spade.
“Media can be factually made with a child/family audience in mind” and “media for children/family audiences can be well made and engaging pieces of art” and “if you are an adult you should have a more diverse media diet than what exists to target an audience of primary middle and grade schoolers” and “it’s okay to watch a cartoon as an adult and enjoy it” can coexist.

“i love how we as a fandom have just agreed that–” don’t include me in this. do NOT lump me in with that.
