Marvin Roweâs machine can accurately date even tiny artifacts without damaging them
âThe process is important because, unlike other methods of radiocarbon dating that destroy the sample being tested, LEPRS preserves it. It also works on tiny samples â even a flake of ink or paint â and is considered a more accurate means of dating.â
The high-tech 3D mapping of Homo naledi's Dinaledi chamber
The extremely difficult conditions in which University of the Witwatersrandâs (Wits) Professor Lee Bergerâs Rising Star team was forced to work, gave rise to the use of space-age technology to map the Dinaledi chamber and Rising Star Cave, in which over 1500 Homo naledi fossils were found.
Ashley Kruger, a PhD candidate in Palaeoanthropology at the Evolutionary Studies Institute at Wits, who was part of Bergerâs initial Rising Star Expedition team, roped in the use of high-tech laser scanning, photogrammetry and 3D mapping technology to bring high resolution digital images to Berger and team members on an almost real-time basis in order to make vital decisions regarding the underground excavations.
âThis is the first time ever, where multiple digital data imaging collection has been used on such a sale, during a hominin excavation,â says Kruger. Read more.

I always give up
We receive tons of thankful messages from people who loves Gymaholic because it changed their lives.
However, we also receive messages from beginners who keeps failing. The ones who work hard for 2-3 weeks, then stop. Because they think itâs too hard.
But if itâs hard, why other people succeed to achieve their goals and set up new ones !? âThey are born with a strong mindsetâ they might think.
Let me tell you something, the people who succeed achieving their goals are no smarter nor stronger than you. They also failed, they also gave up, they also though that shit wasnât for them. If there is no struggle, there is no story.
Why theyâre still going forward then?Â
They set small goals⊠and they make sure they master them.
Here are examples of small goals:
Eat 3 fruits per day
Exercise 3 times a week
Sleep at a fixed time
Always have a full cup of water on your desk
Always have a snack with you
âŠ
If I say to myself, okay this week I want to eat 3 fruits per day. That shit is easy right !? Everybody can do it.
But what if you say, âIâm gonna accomplish all these small goals in one weekâ. I will give up after 2-3 weeks, because my mind and body is not used to it. Thatâs the mistake most beginners do.
They start from nothing to everything.
Yes, we all want the progress yesterday ⊠But accomplishing big goals is done by setting smaller ones. When you master and stay consistent with small goals, big goals become a piece of cake.
Yes you failed, but thatâs called life my friend. Life knocks you down, then you get back up and learn from it.
I also failed when I started 3 years ago. I failed last week on that new personal record attempt. I will fail on something next week, but I donât care because Iâm prepared. There is no failure, only feedback!

10 Tips for Making New Friends
1. Listen to people when theyâre talking; show an interest in what they have to say.
2. Make an effort to remember peoplesâ names and use them the next time you meet them.
3. Follow up with people you are interested in staying in touch with. Call them up, send them an email or arrange to meet for a coffee or drink.
4. Treat everyone the same â act as if they are the most important person in the world (at least while you are talking to them).
5. Get involved in clubs and activities. Force yourself to go out and be with others.
6. In conversations, stick to safe topics before you know someone well. Donât be quick to share your political or religious views, or to go on about your pet grievances.
7. Make sure you come across as someone whoâs friendly the first time you meet someone new. Greet them warmly, smile, share your name and ask them theirs.
8. Be aware of other peoplesâ culture and be sensitive to any potential differences. You donât want to offend other people â either deliberately or inadvertently. The goal is to be seen as a person who is friendly, respectful and warm.
9. Donât rush your interactions with people as that sends the message that youâre not interested in them, or what they have to say.
10. Donât be false â just be your normal self. People would prefer to find out who you are.
