This is right before (perhaps a couple of days) the two Eridian astrophage experts die, meaning Grace dosn’t have/ forced to go on the thip but also before they become mates!

Thats why Simon is very confused, because I imagine making ceremonial or really special clothing for a "friend" is prettu taboo. Usually you do that for a mate??? So is Grace just being friendly??? Who knows.

Wow i haven't posted in a while! Not that I had a regular schedule to begin with...

Me yapping about this AU

Simon first started off as a Eridian engineer, mostly maintenance stuff... He met Grace, however, during the Great Thrum (the building of Blip-A) when he was given the honor of participating in its making. Now he obviously didn't have the chance to fully eye(?? Hear) Grace but he soon found out he was the Eridian with the most knowledge of astrophage.

He spent a lot of time trying to build the ship while also sneak passing conversations with Grace. Grace who hasn't really gotten alonge with other Eridians in his field latched on to this new companionship.

Weeks?? Months?? Later the two astrophage experts expected to go on the ship died. Eridian! Eva asked Grace to go but he has a deep phobia of space (soundless, empty void with nothing in it... yeah its going to be scary.) Instead of giving him a choice she just... put him on the ship during his sleep and then hes suddenly waking up in space!

Meanwhile Simon willingly volunteered as he had more knowledge of the ship and was more than fine doing constant repairs. Safe to say he was throughly surprised to see his mate on the ship with him.

Because Grace spent so much time with Simon in his work space (said to be closer to the engines where astrophage is stored) both of them narrowly missed radiation poisoning. This did however form a very codependent relationship between the two as they watch everyone else slowly die :(

Ray remake! I wasn't satisfied with some parts of them (mostly the patterns) and I forgot to give her more accessories. She likely never wears them (even for special occasions) given its probably really annoying to hear ever time you move.

Some other things I made ^^

Yapping:

Ray is a writer! I imagine Eridians also have stories and such but in their own unique way. Things like fiction are mostly made in music/ song form and center around portraying emotional depth of characters instead of a plot per say.

Anyways. She recently discovered what dnd is and given Grace; who likely knows what it is either because of his own personal interest or his kids, has been insistently prying for more information and how to play. Its a unusual concept, but she is interested nonetheless.

(Mabye I'll draw smt about it. We'll see)

Yapping:

I think the headcannon that not only the blue rock segments on Rocky's body is a part of Adrian's carapace, but also Eridians give eachother cool rocks as a courting ritual! (Like penguins) I imagine that the 'tearing off a bit of my skin' part is more of a sign of a already established relationship, but isn't so cool of an idea? "Here! I love you! Take my skin!"

I've seen some concepts of Eridians singing a courtship song, sort of like the blue (?) Manakin bird. A whole group of singing Eridians trying to rizz you up.

Anyways. Adrian is a baddie, statement.

I actually remade "Ray" a lot because agate is such a cool stone and I kept seeing more and more references I wanted to use and apply to their design.

My head cannon is that pebbles (baby Eridians) pile up to feel safe on others they feel comfortable with. In this case its a very confused Ryland Grace :3
