pairing: platonic reader! reader is 22, grace is 40, simon is mid 30s, rocky and adrian are really old

let’s start with readers background!

from a planet really really far away in a completely different galaxy called zorthan

no clue how they ended up anywhere near grace and rocky

was a medic back on their planet! they started helping around their local clinic when they were around 13

they became really passionate and good at their job, often healing people for free

their planet has a crazy hierarchy

elites live in the capital, everyone else provides resources for the capital

think hunger games without the games part

reader was NOT an elite, but because they were so good at their job, elites often requested them for private practice

really preferred working at the clinic bc their passion truly is helping people

elites abused reader physically and mentally, often throwing things at them out of frustration or belittling them for being poor

reader did not have a good home life. they felt insanely pressured to be perfect for their parents

mistakes = punishment. reader developed a fear of making mistakes and over apologizes for literally everything. you’ll see this in action soon.

chose medicine bc they didn’t ever feel physical touch that was soothing and comforting and wanted to be able to provide that to others

was married off at 16, seeing as that’s custom. evil douche chooses to marry reader, basically trapping them in an awful, unwanted marriage.

reader hated being married so bad, they volunteered to go to outer space to escape the freak only six months into being married lol

their crew was also really mean to them bc reader was an outcast.

lowkey doesn’t regret it. they love rocky, and grace, and soon simon!!

awful awful awful anxiety from their childhood

wears glasses bc one time an elite hit them too hard and too close to their eye, causing partial blindness in their right eye lol

reader drowned when they were younger, so they are TERRIFIED of large bodies of water and baths. showers only. (this is projection. this did happen, and i did die lol)

learns a little about science and engineering while they were alone bc they got board and read some science notes/books. but actually had to fix things as time went on. lots of scars on hand from trial and error.

nightmares, but walking fun and sunshine when they become comfortable

what it’s like on zorthan!

kind of like earth, but less naturally occurring flora and fauna

food is very scarce and fresh food is basically nonexistent if you don’t live in the capital. reader sometimes gets payments in food, donating it sometimes

people higher up in the hierarchy have an abundance of resources because they have greenhouses and tons of livestock in the capital

elites have access to cloth, the poor do not. so reader knows how to sew really well bc they were constantly fixing theirs and others’ clothes

partners are typically chosen by parents. literally an arrangement. but reader was chosen by their partner. it’s rare that happens

homosexuality is a BIGGGGG no no. so imagine readers shock when rocky not only has a gender ambiguous partner, but is also gender ambiguous himself. imagine their shock when grace and simon get together?? humans are allowed to just do that??? insane. truly.

when you turn 16, you get a marking!! it’s your partner’s initials or symbol on the left side of your ribs to be closest to the heart 😬

what they’re like with grace, simon, rocky, and adrian!

they are very closed off in the beginning. grace and rocky may know the space backstory, but they know absolutely nothing.

constantly shocks all 4 of them with random lore drops as. just when they think it can’t get any worse, reader says something worse

seeks grave and simon out when they have a nightmare, they really heavily on the physical comfort. you have to remember that they went to space when they were 16 and did not feel a parents love before that, spent 5 years alone, and now suddenly has access to loving parents… yeah they want comfort.

constantly steals their clothes. so comfy and it smells like their dads

rocky and adrian dub themselves as readers second parents

reader loves napping with them. together, separate, it doesn’t matter. that’s family. that’s ohana.

adrian often takes reader out for walks so they don’t lose their minds while they want for their clinic to be built in a connecting bio dome

meets with medical professional eridians often to learn their anatomy, and vice versa

constantly does checkups on grace, simon, and rocky to make sure their bodies are doing okay after spending so long in space.

really likes learning about simon’s mutations and eridian anatomy.

they have our same human anatomy. they just have some food aversions due to nutrition issues. unknown if that’s an alien thing or just a personal thing

grace and simon absolutely adore having reader around. that’s their kid bro.

all 4 of them constantly come up with new things for you to do so you don’t get too bored on your days off from the clinic.

simon cried when you gave him his new arm that you worked on with some engineers (ofc rocky lead the team)

you’re all just one big happy family who love each other.

note that i dont think simon calls grace “angel” as a petname like . ever. Its not a casual term it holds too much “yikes!!” energy that both of them get wary of , but there are very few and very specific exceptions

anyways that guy can NOT take praise as is. you gotta distract him a little with smth to make him accept any of it

Very important to me that Simon essentially comes from an alien culture from grace’s pov.

I imagine the way you express gratitude or well wishes in Eden has to do with the tree also, a more formal expression might be ‘May thy body rot and nourish the soil and join the creator in eternity,” but in casual speech it gets shortened and sounds. very unsettling. To those not in the know.

I also think Simon isn’t technically speaking English, it would sorta be like a modern person trying to talk to someone speaking in Elizabethan English-like you can kinda understand it, but you gotta really focus.
