In one of my many design phases, I did my dining room in Moroccan style. By the time we moved, I was so over monkeys in little red hats and tail coats, that I left the chandelier behind. Now, of course, I regret that. Anyway, here’s a beautiful home in Marrakesh.

My favorite church conversions are those that were made into homes, as-is, and not completely gutted & modernized. Well, this is the best one I’ve come across, yet. It’s huge, and it’s incredible. Located in New York City, it is absolutely amazing.

An antique dealer’s cavernous home in France. The iron structure actually comes from Gustave Eiffel’s foundry in Paris. Matching French garden table and chairs are from the 19th century.
The interior is decorated with the antique dealer’s selected pieces like the paintings and French armchairs. The sofa was custom made. Notice the basket weave type ceiling beams.

Kim had no plan when she started designing her 80-year-old home in Ottawa, Canada. The interiors blogger doesn’t even subscribe to one style. A self-described “flying by the seat of my pants” kind of person, she simply listened to the house.
What sold her was an original architectural element: A real entrance. “Once I saw that I didn’t have to walk directly into the living room, I was sold,” she remembers. “Then I was greeted with wainscoting. I nearly wept with glee.”

A young couple’s recently renovated brownstone in Upper Manhattan, whose 1898 Renaissance Revival façade gives way to timeless architecture and decor. Original woodwork, much of it cleverly reworked, sets the stage for a trove of vintage and antique furnishings.
The living area features vintage furnishings, among them a Chesterfield sofa and Art Deco armchairs that were recovered. The fireplace combines old (the firebox, the wood chimneypiece) with new (the stone trim).

A display from a smalltown second hand bookstore. What has been found in books.
The nice thing about the 70s sex pits was that they didn't have to be used for sex. They're a nice little social area even when you're not hosting an orgy. Obviously everyone knows what they're for, and adults sitting in them do half expect that at some point someone will start pulling clothes off, but until that happens, it's a nice area to chill and have a conversation and enjoy a glass of wine or a hookah or something.
