Made a small contained version of the Ruins!

The only thing I didn’t manage to include were the watter cannals and the raised plantations, but oh well. (Toriel’s book reads “Gardens 101″ lol)

More Ruins! (pencil, scanned. Again, the bricks look pinker than the physical version but whatever)

In the original UT, Toriel gets food and necesities from Home (the city), according to that one Froggit just before the balcony room where you find the toy knife. They say “I saw [Toriel] come out carrying some groceries (...)” so I always assumed the Ruins are simply a separate area to Home, which is still inhabited by monsters.

However, I guessed with the door to Snowdin locked it would make more sense for Home to be abandoned. Toriel and some minor monsters are the only ones wandering the Ruins, aside from Napstablook who sneaks under the doors. So for all of them to survive they’d have to harvest their food somehow. Which is why I’ve decided to deck most of the rooms in the Ruins with 1) more water cannals and 2) raised plantations. Toriel might not be good at gardening, but she can keep crops alive after having to live through the harsh conditions of the war against the humans.

Also, as a direct result of more water cannals and the layout being slightly different due to the plantations, most of the puzzles would deal with changing water levels and water-related traps like moving platforms and such.

Was practicing backgrounds and decided to make the Ruins Entrance! (pencil, scanned; the colors look a bit off they’re supposed to be redder but oh well)

The brick walls are red with a little tinge of magenta, and the floor is gray concrete. The leaves you find scattered over the floor are yellow in this case and come from small trees Toriel struggles every day to keep alive and healty. Gardening was never her strong suit but she doesn’t have Asgore there so she’s managing, somehow.

I did a redraw of some drawings of a personal au of 2016.

The story is very long, and, even a resume is big, so. Basicaly, Frisk is the descendent of one of the seven great wizard and is on a quest to maintain the peace between the races. Sans is a assassin, acused of a crime that he don’t comitted ( Chara and Asriel Death) He is cursed with a spell that reduces his powers by half, and that at the same time, is killing him little by little. Frisk learns about sans by Toriel and goes after him determined to help. They form a pact that link their souls to gain some time for Sans. And now, Frisk’s mission is to find the other descendants and break the curse on Sans. ( and sorry for any gramatical mistake)

Anyways, I love Assassin Sans, and just like the designs of both characters, maybe someday u will give them color, it would make it easier to do fanart.

Wartime shenanigans! In which Gaster is way too curious for his own good (but... when isn’t he) and Grillby’s sarcasm backfires tremendously.

So Gaster was the head medic of the army and thus got to wear non-metal armor, since he usually chilled by the back lines. Grillbz here isn’t sporting his armor cuz he’s on cooking duty rn but it’s not that different from what the Royal Guard wears in present time. Their relationship during the beginning of the war boils down to a scientist in the making pestering this rare fire elemental monster 24/7.

I’m curious about Grillby! Does he have any specific attacks other than basic magic? And would he be a battle Frisk has to face? Also, what is his relationship with Sans? Does Sans have a tab?

On to your questions! He actually doesn't use normal magic like the rest of the monsters, in a way. I headcanon elementals to be slightly different. He can use fire at will, absorbe it and create it and manipulate it n stuff. He can morph that fire into different shapes, so in some ways it's kinda like fire magic but not quite. Aside from that, ever since deciding to settle down in Snowdin Town and opening the bar he's become quite proficient at handling knives; he can use them as fighting daggers and throw them around with decent accuracy. Though, he was a commander during the war so usually his fire would be more than enough.

As for fighting Frisk, he'd only do it in a Genocide run and only if Frisk gets there quickly, i.e, if the bar is the first place they visit upon reaching the town. That's the only way they'd be able to catch him before he has time to gather the last of his belongings and evacuate for good.

His relationship with Sans, meanwhile, is uh... hard to describe. It's the kinda silent companionship people develop for each other when they meet constantly and witness lots of ruckus on a daily basis. Like that one classmate you don't know but you nod with or make a face with when something goes down in class. Sans appreciates him for his silence and his food, and Grillby for being a usual customer and keeping the most rowdy patrons at bay.

Sans does have a tab, but at this point it's kinda like the rest of his monthly bills to pay. Grillby will only tolerate him for so long before he starts hunting him down for the money.

When in the original Sans says “You’d be dead where you stand” I always took it very literal. Like, he can’t kill you in Snowdin cuz Paps is there, Undyne controls Waterfall, and Hotlands is overlooked by Alphys; so the first oportunity he has to strike is there at the hotel right before you go into the Core.

But since in this au nobody’s pulling punches and killing/capturing humans on sight is encouraged for most, specially Sans since he’s unoficially part of the Royal Guard, then I figured the only thing that stopped him from ending Frisk the second they stepped out of the Ruins was Toriel’s promise.
