I saw an Ask on another Tumblr Blog talking about this, and didn't know if it was actually true or not, because I originally couldn't find anything after Google'ing it, but it looks like it is true. Just great (I am being sarcastic here).
This reminds me too much of the New 52, where Tim and/or Jason got the Teen Titans (since Tim got to have a Teen Titans team book, and not Dick, and I am pretty sure Tim was the founder, and not even Dick, because ofc that is the case; I hate it) and/or Titans members (Roy and Kory. Though in this case, it is Lian, who should be with Roy and/or her uncle Dick or with her mother and/or etc., and not with Jason, imo. Though I guess her being with Jason, makes more sense than her being with Tim or something. Since there is at least some connections when Jason was Robin - not a lot, but some -.
And then there is New 52 Jason who had connections with Roy, but New 52 Roy and Kory weren't them and etc., so I don't really count that), and Dick, basically didn't (I still like some Dick New 52 stuff, but God, you could really feel Didio's hatred for Dick, the Titans, Dick's generation, etc. in the New 52 sometimes).
Though, there is also the stuff Jason pulled with Mia, and if that is still a thing, and Lian found out about it, I don't really see Lian liking and/or wanting to be Jason all that much. Also, her grandfather, Ollie, doesn't really like Jason, and that may have rubbed off on Lian some too, so yeahhhh... Still Lian being on a team with Jason really weird, even though I am still excited for more of Lian, and I hope she is done well.
Then there is Flatline, who I am haply to see more of, but has like, no connections with Jason? She is Damian's girlfriend, and would make more sense with her to be with Damian more. Or even Dick, who is closer/close to Damian, than Jason, who isn't all that connected to Damian (both Dick and Tim have more actual/actual good connections with Damian) and has no connections with Flatline. Tim would make more sense, since at least he is taking a break from being by Bruce's side, and this could help Tim come into his own more again, by being on a team again, and trying to help missing kids. Tim also has more connections to Damian too (imo), than Jason, too, so there is also that. Like Tim, Dick, Damian, Steph, etc. all probably would have made more sense for this than Jason, so why Jason???? I find Flatline on a team with Jason to also be weird, even though I am also excited to see more of her too in stuff, and I hope she is done well.
Jason also has, pretty sure, no connections with Fairplay.
Seriously, I am so tired of DC doing this kind of thing with Jason, as both Dick, Damian, and Steph fan (like some of the other Robins too though, like Jason and Tim), Jason being the one doing this, instead of them, who I feel like would make more sense to do this and/or have more connections, imo, to at least some members of the team, and ofc, Dick is very connected with Teen Titans/Titans and mentoring and helping younger heroes. There was also a proposal at one point about Steph leading a team of younger people/heroes, so this book could have been cool for her too. At least she gets to be on Titans; hopefully the new run is good and they do Steph well.
Jason, imo, usually works better with teams of people more his own age or even a bit older; he doesn't really, imo, have much qualifications to doing this. Again, Dick would make more sense to do this. Damian would make more sense to be apart of this team in some form, etc.
Also, I don't really think this all that good for Jason and his character and defin. fan perception of him.
Like I said, I am getting some New 52 vibes here (which in this case, it is not good New 52 vibes), also, wasn't the stuff/BS they tried to do with the Red Hood book, with having Helena/Huntress suddenly being in a book with Jason and possibly in a romance with Jason, despite having no connections with Jason really, and much more connections/more of a relationship (romantic or not) and romantic history and/or possibly romantic history (or at least people very much ship the characters sometimes) with Dick, Black Canary (I love Black Canary with Ollie so much, but I can understand shipping some of the BOP too) and Babs and etc., but no, let's maybe screw up her character and put her in a Red Hood book suddenly. Like, maybe the book would have been good and Red Hood/Jason and Helena/Huntress would have been written well if we got more, but I don't know I have/had my doubts and worries about that, even if I still want to hope for the best, when/if I can.
(Please give us more good Huntress/Helena stuff, DC, and get rid of her Red Hood costume, because it wasn't that good, and give her a good/great one. Same with Jason, his Red Hood costume wasn't great either, please just give him a new one already, you couldn't even do that apparently with this new book. Though I still hope he will get a costume change soon in this costume and/or in DC stuff in general, and that it is good).
I still like Jason and want more good stuff with and for him, but I am so tired, just so tired of some of the choices done with him, both other characters' sake and his.
Would have much preferred if Dick (Kyle Higgins, this new Teen Titans writer, has also already wrote Dick in the past, and can actually write Dick decent to good to well. From a post Kyle asking about his favorite Robins, he said is least favorite was Jason, which may not be great, since he is writing Jason. Sometimes major fans writing for their faves can also be an issue to for that character and/or other characters, like with Tim. But I still think people who actually like the characters they are writing is overall more preferable usually. And Higgins doesn't seem to like Jason much at all, at least judging from the answer he did here), Damian, Cass, or even Tim (I would say Steph too, but she is apart of Titans currently, but if she wasn't, Steph too) be the Bat apart of this book, in Jason's role and/or a role similar to Jason, but more personalized to them than Jason.
(JPV could have been a fun, weird, interesting, unique, etc. choice too).
Like seriously, why Jason for this????
Really hoping some other Bats besides Babs, Kate, and Jason now, I guess (why Jason for this, just why??) get some cool and good next Level comics too. Since I am already excited for Kate and Babs' books (plus other ones too. Esp. Zatanna's. Though look forward to Deathstroke and Lobo's too. And ofc Kate's. Plus some announced other books and other books that aren't as known about yet - which included Teen Titans, but I am less excited for it now. I am still hoping it will be good, because I do like some of the team line-up and I just want more good Teen Titans/Titans stuff and more respect put on their name(s). Though considering the choice of Jason here, it looks like DC might still not really be trying to treat Teen Titans/Titans all that good still. Though I will still hope this book will be good, and that DC is starting to treat Teen Titans/Titans well, good, better, and with respect. Also hoping for this with the new Titans run and etc.) as well.
I would also love to see some cool, unique, interesting, great, etc. stuff with other Bats too, like JPV, Helena, Dick, Damian, Luke, Duke, etc. So I am going to hope for that. As well as other cool and good Next Level books (maybe one(s) for Ollie, Roy, Mia, Black Canary, Steph, Tim, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Harley, Static Shock, Black Lightning, some kind of Outsiders Book, Martian Manhunter, Constantine, Justice League Dark of some sort, etc.).
