love poem :)
[Image ID:
a poem on a white background that reads
“you are seven and eating pomegranate for the first time
your mother picks the seeds out carefully
and she puts them on a napkin
and sends you outside with your little brother
you eat the fruit
staining your hands, sweetly
and your mother watches you from the window
or you are thirteen and you are sitting with your friend
sharing candy with them
and they are picking out the pink ones — your favorite— and setting them to the side
for you
and for maybe the first time it hits you, what love might be
or you are eighteen and standing at the counter with your grandmother
and she is watching you crack walnuts
clumsily picking the nuts from the shell
and when you put the nutcracker down she takes it
and starts cracking walnuts
deftly picking out the meat for you”

Writing x Characters When You Aren’t x, A Masterlist
x: a variable used to represent something unknown.
We’ve seen an influx of questions about how to write stories based around characters of color, disability, non-binary, etc. when the author does not fall into these categories. Rather than have these posts take over the site, we’ve decided to compile a list of resources to help our fellow writers become more educated about writing what they do not immediately know. However, this list is not the end-all-be-all of knowledge; one should always try to learn from someone with first hand experience in any topic. The world is constantly growing and changing, and because of that, there will always be more to learn. The admins at Plotline Hotline want to help writers form respectful, informed, and realistic characters that broaden the narrow range we see in literature today.
*Be wary that some of the topics listed below contain sensitive material. Reader discretion is advised.*
As always, the links I found to be especially apt will be in bold. Topics are listed alphabetically, excepting the “other” section.

i love when you share the things you like with me!!!
Budding, Blooming Dream
It folds itself in layers around my sleeping form
Reaching skyward from those fleshy gray fields
and petals out in dizzying golden patterns
I hear bells and strings and sliding tones
They strike the chords of fear taut in my heart
It thrums in a beat I can’t begin to comprehend
I’m frightened.
Checking the clock in bed I see 2:30
Bright red, 10:09, 5:16, 00:00
Every flickering blink a silent warning
Always odd and rarely good, I am now aware
My limbs feel honey-slow yet bitter to the touch
I channel my energy into my eyelids
I’m asleep.
Once, twice, I force myself to the surface
To soft-smelling sheets and familiar walls
To the purple sky and great grinning dream
Ah, I’ve been deceived.
~Being killed by my own creation, for artists that’s our dream~
This piece was inspired by the music video for Mister Jewel Box! The song and video are both amazing! Bonus piece under the cut (cw: eyestrain)

She’s so talented. From the coloration to the texture of the bodice to the contrast between her domineering position and expression and his sickly, worn out ones, everything about this piece is amazing darling <3 - Clue

Heyo! So this is just a short thing I wrote to build the world and develop my OCs Hex and Twyla! Hex and Twyla are a grim reaper and ghost respectively so there will be stuff about death whenever I write about them so just a heads up!! This particular story contains CW for: discussions of death, graphic description of illness/nausea.
If I need to tag anything else lmk but otherwise enjoy the story!

Putting this here also because this technically is a writing blog!
