Someone: No one notices your acne!!!! Its never as bad as you think!!! Don't worry!!! ( ˘ ³˘)❤
Mother: oh honey your skin!!
Grandparents: we are going to get you tea tree oil
Uncle: so do you normally pick your skin?
Cousins: why do you have bumps on your face
Me: *tears skin faster*
Just because it’s not normal doesn’t mean it needs a cure.

Hello you wonderful person with Dermatillomania and/or Trichotillomania
Your hairloss isn’t ugly
Your scars aren’t ugly
Your thin patches aren’t ugly
Your scabs aren’t ugly
Your bald patches aren’t ugly
Your infected cuts aren’t ugly
Your lack of eyelashes/eyebrows aren’t ugly
Your raw skin isn’t ugly.
I know it can be really really frustrating sometimes but I really want you to know that you are so so so so beautiful whether or not your bfrb is visible. You’re absolutely fucking gorgeous and having scabs or scars or bald patches or thin hair or whatever doesn’t change that one itty bitty bit. Stay strong, friend.
hi if u have dermatillomania ur gr8 and i love u
Brain: Be sad now.
Me: why?
Brain: because we’re sad
Hiding the darkness that comes before the light is like being a travel writer that only talks about the final destination.

a person without my disabilities: self diagnosis invalidates professionally diagnosed people
me: shares self diagnosis resources for my disabilities
me: is professionally diagnosed
me: looks at the camera like i'm on the office
This is so important - we can’t compare trauma experiences, it is all valid. Even two people who go through the same trauma can react differently.
Now this is a metaphor I get.
Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs) I asked Dr. Grant why he believes BFRBs are so under-researched and underfunded. He said that the main reason was that “people consider them simply habits that one should be able to change on one’s own instead of complex behaviors that result in problems for people.” UK-based Simon Darnley believes “there is treatment out there” in the form of “anxiety therapies” conducted by “good therapists.” The problem is that he typically sees five to 10 cases per year. Why so few cases? Jennifer Raikes spoke of a “catch 22” situation where “people who have these disorders do not talk about them.” There is little public awareness of the existence of these disorders, so people don’t know they even have something that requires treatment. Shame is what sends people into the shadows. Mr. Darnley says the lack of awareness of BFRBs is due to “shame and embarrassment as people partly believe their BFRBs are their own fault.” People need reassurance that their habits are not their fault, and that they should feel confident to address them and talk about them. Taking a hard-line approach with someone and telling him or her to stop something they can’t control only perpetuates the shame they feel and subjugates them into more silence.

depression after years of having it isn’t even sadness it’s just being exhausted and being allowed one (1) emotion a week and sometimes your brain is like “die” and you’re like “shut up brad”
You may not know about it yet, but you know someone who has it.
