It would have been painful had we discovered the Anulado was any other agent, but it being specifically Jae/Maria is EVIL

Not just because it was another unlucky situation in a whole season worth of deadly unlucky strikes for them.

Not just because it gives a convenient explanation to leave them out of fan works.

Not just because it was a plot to give the first episode combat and a cliffhanger by randomly discarding one of the killers.

But also because it was Remi who made the choice, who doomed his lover without even knowing, by random chance.

And the Anulado description? [Translation in ALT]

...Yeah, it really stings when you realize it is the deformed body of the trans person who will die in a few days. The one who deeply despised themself due to manipulating the way they're viewed, losing themself in the mask of inferiority and seeking power to prove everyone wrong about them, only letting loose when inhabiting the body of the trans teenager... who was basically just killed. The one who was so neglected and silenced and abused and oppressed that their method of "emotional regulation" was murdering people, and was seeking Hexatombe for... we actually don't know ("a bigger purpose", according to them). You know, that same teenager whose method of defeat last season was trapping them in a closet with a paranormal lock? ...Guess the Order did just that, but with a coffin.

Imagine killing your own agonizing, distorted body, without even knowing. Imagine dying in a decaying, deformed body that literally isn't yours, trapped once again in a "closet". And don't forget you're trans in both of these situations!!!

blorbofication to me is when you love a character in such a laser focus way that you somewhat detach them from the narrative from which they are inserted and treat them in a way roughly similar to how you'd treat an oc for which you still have no story and just like to put them in situations just for fun. which there's nothing wrong with btw, it's just that it can easily lead to people forgetting the character engine in a narrative and not just a barbie doll

the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible

because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person 

from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating

I think part of the pushback about this is the idea that, to “redeem” bad people, their victims must first forgive them for unforgivable acts.

This is false. No one is obligated to forgive you. You can learn from your mistakes and become the best, kindest person on earth, and the people you’ve hurt still won’t forgive you, and you’ll have to accept that. And that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to grow. Because we aren’t just “pure” or “sinful”, we’re complex.
