SANEMI SHINAZUGAWA. Spends most of the afternoon hyping himself up by going through his most rigorous workout moves (push-ups, bench presses, arm curls, you name it) all to make sure his muscles are at peak tautness and definition before he’s due to pick you up. Forgoes water and food for most of the day as well (he doesn’t want to be bloated), but that means he’s at risk of being irritable, so he purges all possible annoyance and irritation by grumbling under his breath at pedestrians. Sure, he looks a little nutty, but by the time he arrives at your door, he gives the appearance of total calmness, if not also a little shyness. He’ll hand you a single-stemmed rose and gruffly compliment your outfit before escorting you out to the car, making sure he flexes his bicep just a little.
TENGEN UZUI. Like Sanemi, he commits to doing fifty or so reps of push-ups to get his blood pumping and muscles popping. Spends approximately four hours beforehand artfully crafting the perfect first date outfit, except he goes through about six or seven changes before eventually settling on his first pick, though this almost makes him late. 100% still sprays cologne down his pants before he rushes out the door, just in case.
KYOJURO RENGOKU. Pep talk after pep talk to himself in front of a mirror. Tons of affirmations (“you will eat a normal amount of food!” or “you are handsome and affable and you absolutely blink normally!”), but he also practices the compliments he knows you’ll earn. Kyojuro is warm and self-assured, but he gets a little tongue-tied where you’re concerned, and he wants to make sure tonight goes absolutely perfectly. He leaves an hour before he’s due to pick you up so that he has plenty of time to stop and get you flowers — and a little thing of chocolate for your mom, like the good boy he is.
OBANAI IGURO. Nearly cancels at least four or five times beforehand, including once no less than an hour before he’s due to pick you up. He paces the length of his apartment, nitpicking every last detail — the location, the time, the food, his outfit — and somewhere, amidst all this anxiety, he can’t help but ask himself what the hell is so wrong with you that you would agree to go out on a date with someone like him. When his alarm goes off however, signaling it’s time for him to leave, Obanai goes through a series of ritualistic superstitions that always bring him comfort. He puts his right shoe on, then his left; adjusts his mask up the bridge of his nose once, then twice; and finally strokes the head of his pet snake three times before locking up and making his way toward you.
GIYUU TOMIOKA. Stares at his closet with a pinched brow and a frown for the better part of the afternoon. Can’t quite figure out when exactly he began purchasing clothing exclusively in that one particular shade of drab blue, but he doesn’t exactly have time to reinvent the wheel — or his wardrobe — now. Spends about half an hour trying to tame his hair into something less spiky, less obstinate, but it won’t cooperate so he pulls it into his usual ponytail and hopes you won’t think less of him for it. Feels a little self conscious right before he’s due to pick you up because he has a gift for you — jewelry, in fact — and he’s suddenly wondering whether a nice pair of earrings is overkill for a first date. Has to keep wiping his sweaty palms on his pant legs, but otherwise appears pretty neutral and calm.
GYOMEI HIMEJIMA. Meditates. A lot. He’s not one to express his nerves outwardly, even if his stomach feels like it’s full of angry bees, so he does what he knows best. He takes a cold plunge in the river in the morning, and then makes himself sit on the rocky, uneven shore even though the pebbles feel like a thousand, tiny sharp teeth digging into his flesh the longer he doesn’t move. But he sits there, well into the day, until there’s not a single nervous thought left in his brain — not the feel of your hand in his, not the sound of your laugh, both genuine and forced, not his choice of restaurant. There is only the gritty pain of sediment, and the chill over his skin. Is it overkill? Probably. But, Gyomei arrives at your place fresh and focused and remarkably calm, so it can’t be that extreme.
SHINOBU KOCHO. Truthfully? Shinobu doesn’t know how to be nervous about your date — she’s too busy with her experiments and medical research, nose buried between pages of text that she loses track of time. It’s only when Aoi sheepishly knocks on her door to ask about the time does Shinobu realize she’s due to meet you in less than half an hour. Getting ready is a rush, but she arrives right on time, smiling and breezy and so calm you can’t even discern the vein faintly popping above her eyebrow when she notices the hem of her skirt is just slightly uneven, or that there’s a faint stain on her blouse invisible to everyone but her.
MITSURI KANROJI. She’s a mess; flies around her room, rotates through hundreds of outfit combinations with the fury of a storm until it looks like her closet has thrown up. Obsesses over every detail, checking and rechecking the date, the time, the location. She talks to her cats the whole time, spewing her anxieties and nitpicks, and then imitates them answering her back. She’s a flutter of nervous energy but when she finally settles on an outfit, finally picks out the perfect perfume, she feels calm. Gives herself a short pep talk in front of the mirror and rushes to meet you, cheeks glowing pink and smiling brighter than the sun.
I feel that he would naturally be drawn to a kind and gentle darling, someone that he believes is truly innocent and worthy of being part of the new world he strives to create in Kira`s name
He would worship your very existence and put you on a pedestal, highlighting all the positive traits you have ( or he imagines you to have) while completely ignoring any negatives. You are a perfect being, unblemished by the corruption of society and he knows that it is his duty to make sure that your innocence is preserved
For that reason, he makes sure to include some free time in his very busy and structured schedule to keep an eye on you and make sure that no one is hurting or defiling his precious angel
In other words, Mikami starts stalking you on a daily basis almost immediately after seeing you for the first time. He believes that only he is capable of making sure you are safe and to do that, he must keep a close eye on you. Of course, he also just loves secretly basking in your presence. Just a single glance of you is enough to wash away all the stress of his daily life. To him, your very existence is healing
He's usually watching you through your bedroom window in the evening. Nothing brings him greater joy than watching you sleep with a peaceful expression on your face. Oh, how he wishes he could crawl into bed right next to you and hold you close!
Another reason for his stalking is to learn more information about you. He won't be content to just watch you for long and as such, he needs to know exactly what you look for in a partner so he can make himself as appealing to you as possible when properly meeting you for the first time
Now Mikami can be very charming. He's very attractive looking, has a nice voice and a respectable job. He's also good at pretending to be reasonable and normal. It would not be very hard for him to pull you in and make you agree to meet up with him again and again
Even while you're not yet dating, Mikami would disapprove of you meeting with any other people, especially ones he would see as competition for your love. In his eyes, they are unworthy of being close to you. They're dirty, rotten. They would only corrupt someone as pure as you. And naturally, he can't have that
He believes himself to be the only one capable of taking proper care of you and treating you how you deserve to be treated. He's willing and even eager to worship the very ground you walk on. This man will grovel and plead for even a scrap of your attention. How could you ever even entertain the thought of being with anyone else?
He would definitely try to isolate you from people he doesn't approve of. He might leave you some friends that he has personally checked and vetted to ensure that they would not have any negative influence on you or worse, harbor any sort of feelings for you. Anyone else? You'll never see them again if he has any say in it
Maybe different from Light, I don't think Mikami would really hesitate to eliminate any competition or obstacles he might face. He has a very black-and-white view of morality and so likely views anyone who gets in his way of being with you as evil and worthy of death
He is sure that God must have brought you to him to reward his loyalty and dedication to the mission and so anyone who would interfere with God's will is a sinner of the worst order and must be dealt with swiftly
He's almost giddy with excitement whenever he writes down the name of someone you're close to, knowing that he is getting one step closer to having you all to himself
Of course, he would "comfort" you whenever you get sad about another one of your friends disappearing but inside he would be very pleased with himself. His darling is just so kind-hearted that they would even mourn for the low lives he deletes from existence. It just makes him fall for you even more, even if he thinks that your sadness is misplaced
Once you actually are in a relationship with Mikami, it would get very difficult for you to leave him. He probably won't immediately reveal that he's acting as Kira to you but over time, his rather disturbing view on morality would come to light
I think it is stated that Mikami only talks about his real views on criminals when he feels like he is speaking with someone who shares his values (like with Takada) but the longer Kira's reign continues and the more the approval ratings increase, the more outspoken he becomes about being a follower of Kira at least
I mean, he starts appearing on Kira's kingdom constantly to the point that Near grew suspicious of him because of that. Surely you as his partner would immediately take note of it if you saw him on TV like that
If you don't approve of Kira and get upset with him about it, Mikami would be very dismayed but try to explain his twisted idea of justice to you, all while carefully making sure to not reveal his real identity to you. He's very good at making his arguments sound logical and well-thought-out to the point that it would be difficult to really argue against
Despite that, Mikami wouldn't really "punish" you for speaking out against Kira. He doesn't approve of it but he just believes you to be temporarily confused and thinks that you will come around to his line of thinking eventually. Clearly, there must be someone in your life who is poisoning your mind with blasphemous thoughts about Kira being evil
No matter, he will just delete them as well with a flick of his wrist
Now if you actually tried breaking up with him? He wouldn't take it well, at all.
He would insist on knowing what he did wrong and what he could do to make it up to you. He promises that he can be better, he would do anything for you! It's one of the rare occasions where the normally rather composed man would crumble into a pathetic mess on the ground
He's full-on crying and cowering on the ground as he latches onto your legs, trying to stop you from leaving. You can't do this to him, he loves you more than anything! If you're gone, he doesn't know if he has the strength to continue on. You're his angel, the person he knows he's meant to be with for the rest of his life. So if you plan on leaving him...
He won't be able to take it. If you leave him now, he's going to take his own life! And he's fully serious when he tells you this. He doesn't necessarily even say it because he's trying to guilt-trip you into staying, he's just at his absolute breaking point. He truly does feel like everything is hopeless and meaningless without you by his side. He can't imagine life without your touch, your voice, your smile
So please don't do this to him. Don't leave him. He's willing to do anything to make things right!
If you decide to stay, things just become even worse for you. Mikami's love becomes absolutely suffocating. He's so paranoid that you might suddenly change your mind again that he's totally unwilling to leave you out of his sights for long. He will definitely install trackers on you to put his mind at ease when he inevitably will have to leave the house for work. Always leaves the door locked too so you can't run or be stolen away by someone else
That will be a constant worry on his mind anyway. The thought of someone else filling your head with empty lies and taking you away from him. His heart feels like it might break when he thinks about it too much. And he does.
Remember when you used to be able to meet with friends he had vetted? Yeah, no more of that. Someone must have talked you into wanting to leave him in the first place so he won't take any chances anymore. He's the only person you're allowed to have contact with anymore
It truly hurts him to see you sad or upset about being completely isolated but he always shushes your cries with gentle kisses and reassurances that all of this is just for your own good. You'll sooner or later come to realize that he only wants what's best for you
Mikami would also super-lovebomb you. He does this even before your "relationship" got to this point but he's especially bad after that attempted breakup.
He tells you how much he loves you every single day and holds you close whenever he can. He says that you're the only one for him, that he can't imagine being with anyone else. That he would do absolutely anything for you. And at this point, you don't doubt that
Mikami will absolutely try to rush your relationship as well. He will try to be gentle and patient but he's just absolutely desperate to secure your relationship and tie you down as fast as possible to calm his paranoia.
He would want to rush into marriage even after only a few dates, liking how a legal document would try to solidify your claim on each other and it would make the process of leaving him that much harder, combined with the fact that he will be the one making most of the money
But don't worry about what life would be without him, he will not let go of you anytime soon and he promises to worship you for the rest of your lives <3
light yagami, who doesn't hesitate to write down the name of that pesky guy who keeps bothering you . . .
his ears perked when you mentioned his name - which you only knew because the guy had insistently told you it multiple times.
you were laying on his bed, playing on your phone while he studied at his desk. he lets you stay when he’s studying because he likes how you won’t bother him too much.
but you wanted to talk today.
you’re blissfully unaware of the two-meter tall creature in the corner, making side comments every so often while Light simply ignored him.
Light wasn’t laying much attention to your rambling until he heard a name. a male name.
“who is he?” he asked, making sure to put on a careful tone of simple curiosity. he won’t let the jealousy come up yet. not without answers.
you sighed before saying, “he’s this guy who is always outside my class when it finishes. he keeps asking for my number while shouting his at me.”
Light doesn’t make a sound, but he stops his quick pen work.
“And I always tell him to go away because I have a boyfriend but he always shows up the next day. He says it’s a pure coincidence that he’s walking by at the time I get out but I know it isn’t.”
“Has he done anything else?” He asks, pondering.
you hesitate for a second before saying, “yesterday he grabbed my arm when I tried to walk away.”
and so Lights mind was made up. He didn’t even glance at the drawer containing the deadly notebook, or at Ryuk in the corner, but the shinigami already knew what Light was planning.
“I’ll wait for you tomorrow and walk you out. To make sure he doesn’t try anything else.”
Light was true to his word. His brown head of hair was the first thing you saw when you left your classroom the next day, and you quickly rushed to his side.
“Thank you, Light.” You said, slipping your hand in his. His fingers stiffened for a moment, still getting used to casual acts of affection in public, but then held yours with calculated ease.
“No problem, really.” He said calmly. “It’s my duty. Just tell me when you see him.”
And sure enough, the guy was there. you gave Lights hand a small squeeze right before the guy approached you.
“So, have you thought about my offer yet-“ He starts before he’s cut off.
“No thank you, sir.” Light says, his jaw slight clenched. “She’s perfectly fine. I recommend that you start respecting people when they decline, otherwise there could be real consequences.”
You glance at Light, slightly surprised. He usually isn’t very chatty with strangers, keeping polite and respectful when he does talk. But this is a nice change.
The guy mutters something under his breath, but Light holds your arms and steers you away from him. He feels a small sense of approval towards Ryuk when he sees that the shinigami has placed himself at the other side of you.
Light glances back once, and takes a long look at the guys face.
That evening, he sits in his room with the Death Note open in front of him.
He had walked you home an hour earlier, asking if you were okay and that you could call him if you felt you were followed. After you walked inside, Ryuk told him, unprompted, that there was nobody suspicious in the area.
Light didn’t hesitate before writing the guys name down, picturing his revolting face in his mind for those seconds.
“Well, it appears you’ve gone soft.” Ryuk chuckles.
“Nonsense.” Light says, moving on to repeat the process of writing down criminals names. “I said I would rid the world of evil. He certainly isn’t good.”
That was the act justified in his mind. That has been his mission from the start, right? Even if the guy didn’t have an official criminal record, Light simply saw it as him cutting the evil in the bud before it grew. Besides, if he was bothering you, that’s reason enough.
Another thing that Light would make clear in his perfect world is that nobody touches what belongs to him.
for @reapkusho <3 . insp. by pictures of you by the cure
no matter how hard he puts his mind to it, saigiku jouno just can’t get rid of his pictures of you.
or any media or memories he has of you, after he pushed you away. to focus on work, and to keep you safe, he claims. its not like he lied! fully, anyway.
before anyone asks, “but how does he even see the pictures?”—he doesn’t. its this notion of having physical proof—evidence—, that you loved him, that keeps him going. there’s something about having a piece of you, of sorts, wherever he goes.
in his wallet, in his phone case, framed in his bedroom—oh, what will he do, if he gets rid of his pictures of you? what would he do with himself, if not stay devoted to you?
sometimes, he holds his pictures of you, begging his foolish heart to get a grip. to stop believing that they’re real, and that you’ll come back.
what makes pictures more dear to him—especially when he can’t see what they looked like, upon clicking the button on the camera—, are that you never really knew he took them, until after you heard the click.
one time, in the rain, you spun around, splashing in the puddles with your giggles echoing through the street he was walking you down. the street wasn’t fully-packed—it had the occasional passer-byer—, but his senses closed in on you.
the way your shoes splashed in the puddles, the way the rain showered down on the floor and rippled through your clothes and overflowing gutters on the side of the road. the way your laughter filled the bustling street, and was all he could hear. the way you suddenly grabbed his hands, dancing with him in the rain.
once you let go of his hands to keep frolicking around, he pulled out his little camera in his right pocket—where you always put it—, turning it on and taking a spur of photos.
you never looked at the camera and kept moving around, which made them feel so real. so special, so uniquely yours, so you. the way your whole body blurred around, but your smile was always in all of them—oh, he misses it.
he misses you.
in dreams, he tries opening his eyes. but it wouldn’t stop you from leaving. it wouldn’t help him find the right words to hold onto your heart.
when he wakes up from those dreams, it hurts. a deep-rooted ache swells through every part of him. through every breath, twitch, sound, movement—his body, no, his whole being aches to be beside you, again.
maybe he’ll put off breaking apart his pictures of you, for another day.
You're effortlessly my one. You're worthy of it, don't have to run to earn it. It's all yours. I'm all yours.
If you ever wanted my heart, chuuya, reach a hand and take it. Tear it out. Don't hesitate. Make a show of red. I know you'd lend me your blood, muscle, and bones without ask. It's only fair that I do the same for you. After all, it's the same heart. One that belongs to a person who's loved. One that suits you unlike anything else, suits you better than you let yourself believe.
I know of the fire that burns under your skin, and hurts.
The fire that you've grown used to.
You pick at them. Scab after scab, boil after boil. Until they bleed and make a show of your red, red blood. Yes, it's yours. Yes, I adore it. It's just as precious as you are.
There's nothing I can give that you don't deserve. Don't let the past fool you.

Similar to my post that Dazai is beloved by older people, Chuuya usually gets the same doting attention from them, but he hates it. It's embarrassing to him.
He's a scary wanted criminal and yet all the old ladies instinctively trust him and ask him for help. He gets the "You there, Young Man, come and help me!" from a complete stranger at least twice a week.
Chuuya's short and has a youthful face, so his elders are always thinking he's younger than he is. They see him in his formal attire and gushing about him going to his first job interview. They'll button up his collar and lecture him on good first impression. And when he starts blustering about it and complaining, "I'm a grown man!" They just giggle and say how much he reminds them of their grandkids.
He's the 'youngen' that the grampa's are always getting into competitions with, they'll deny needing Chuuya's help to carry literal crates of shopping until Chuuya is practically wrestling it out of their arms and demanding they take it easy before they break a hip.
He's more polite to elder women and because of this, they get under his skin easier. They'll tease him relentlessly that he didn't drink enough milk, that he's always trying to talk tough like a delinquent, and all Chuuya can do is grumble and try to hide away under his hat.
Chuuya is beloved by old people and it is a curse.
rin pretends that it's annoying whenever you ask him to play piano. he pretends that you pestering him about trying to pick up playing instruments again as a hobby could quite literally kill him and claims he'll "never play ever again".
but in reality, he spends his nights trying to learn your favourite songs or whatever you've requested before. he loses sleep and looks absolutely dreadful in the mornings, but it's worth losing it if his reward is seeing you happy. he even draws out a keyboard in his notebooks whenever he's bored in class, because every second counts.
coincidentally, you walk into the room while rin is playing with perfect precision, not a single mistake in sight. "so you can play it on piano!" you exclaim, quickly approaching his side and watching his fingers work their magic.
he only scoffs, half glancing at you. "of course. do you think i'm stupid?"
he's been practicing this song for three months. he's been driving himself crazy learning the same song for three months. but he did it for you.
one of my worst writing sins is abusing my power to create compound words. i cannot write the sentence "The sun shone as bright as honey that afternoon." no. that's boring. "The sun was honey-bright that afternoon" however? yes. that sentence is dope as fuck. i do not care if "honey-bright" is a word in the english dictionary. i do not care if the sentence is grammatically correct. i will not change. i will not correct my erred ways. the laws of the english language are mine.
dude I'm literally SHAKING trying to post my work.
do you ever feel like. oh my work doesn't belong here because it's not a reader insert and i cannot write a reader insert if it meant life or death. mercy on my soul.
