for me, russtappen takes the cake because they will never be normal about each other. whenever they meet on track the fanfiction writes itself. they can’t even provoke the other without the commentators bringing up their history. like do you know how feral about the other person you have to be to race them unusually aggressive right before pitting? in a machine going 300kmh+ passing centimetres from the other?? between them there will never be “no risks required”.

max is the cliche hothead on track and is pissed when george doesn’t let him have his way. off track, he’s a goofball around george and acts like nothing bothers him. deep down, he is very bothered, probably more than he should be in this stage of his career. it’s obvious in literally any press interview with the two of them together, from that one iconic clip of him being extra fiddly to not wanting to touch george’s hand (almost in fear of annoying him).

and yes, george is still annoyed but reluctantly smiles at his antics. he has to, at least for the sake of cameras, return a slight press of the lips. he’s outwardly passive on the whole issue but you can tell he is hung up about it through his sarcastic comments, bringing up max when he does not need to. from indoctrinating kimi to his anti-max agenda in that ep of dts by telling him the horrors of max ramming him off the track (he doesn’t realise it’s just him), to george joking that they had a good relationship.

I reckon we dont talk enough about how compatible max and george are. A libra and an aquarius... are you kidding me?

they love racing. they both are pretty smart and know the rules; so they know their way around them. one's too blunt and the other is a bit more formal - and still, its because they know how they come about.

both indulge in a good banter; an aquarius' thrives on mental stimulation- making up scenarios, overthinking even a small detail; looking up for clues and a libra is just so ready to play that game.

however as we've seen, when they do get on each other' toes; ignorance is bliss.

i actually agree with that take lol. there's a difference between just being on the receiving end of max's rage: the incident with esteban comes to mind, where he tried to punch him. that was esteban being in the wrong place at the wrong time - and with good reason i mean, he technically costed max the win.

with the spain 25 incident, max could have literally just not done that. and he wouldn't have done it with any other driver in my opinion. there was no need for that. it was such a disproportionate reaction to such a nonissue that he had to go and turn into an issue why? because it was george. because max has a short fuse but when it comes to george it's like all reasoning goes out the window. max with george has only two settings: "whatever idgaf i don't think about you at all" or "go scorched earth on your ass even if i burn myself down in the process"
