Seeings Jack Wolfe in Hadestown was LITERALLY a dream come true and I never talked enough about it

Hadestown is like so dear and such a special interest I could write atleast four different essays on it. Completely different topics. It’s just SO good. And oh the blocking when I got to see it during Jack’s run? GORGEOUS UGHHH I LOVE TECHNICAL THEATRE- and I love love love the lyricism and music genres oh I could yap about the political messaging and the historical references and it’s just one of my favorite musicals

Somewhere in crooked kingdom, Wylan mentions that his father used to bring him mallow tea and honey comb when he was sick with a lung infection. later, he says his mother got sick and died, of a lung infection.

its my own heartbreaking headcannon that they were sick at the same time, and Jan took advantage of wylan's disorientation to get rid of his mother. maybe he woke up one day, finally feeling better, only to be told that he had survived, but his mother hadnt.

On top of that, lung infections can cause lasting effects, and maybe he was left with some chronic effects, constantly leaving him scared of dying like his mother did. I can only imagine how terrified he would have been working in the tannery, breathing fumes that exacerbated the symptoms, remembering how his mother had died.

edit: wylan also mentions being scared of catching lung fever after nearly dying in the canal. breathing and drowning come up again and again in his story

I saw a anti marauders post recently with a lot of comments that made me think about how I view a lot of the controversies and I might need to rant because as the literal embodiment of everything Joane hates the marauders are dear to me and an interesting conversation about ownership.

Goes without saying that any engagement with official media is something I’m strongly against, and I have issues with the fandom community as awhile but that’s not unique to the marauders fandom. People suck get over it or everything becomes miserable.
