👋🏽 I'm raising funds to help my mom escape domestic violence.

My mom is a disabled South African immigrant who has experienced abuse and violence throughout her life. She is currently receiving threats from and is in constant fear of harm from her husband, who has grown increasingly unpredictable and has access to firearms.

Right now, my top priority is getting my mom out of the apartment she shares with him. There are laws where we live that will protect her through this process! However, since being married, my mom has lost the entirety of her savings due to ongoing financial abuse. Her husband refuses to financially contribute and has actively interfered with her ability to secure work, including intentionally disrupting remote interviews.

I have been paying for her rent and expenses as best I can, but my own experience of disability means I cannot work full-time, and I have limited savings.

My goal is to secure enough money for my mom to end her lease and be able to secure a new apartment as soon as conceivably possible. This would amount to about a year's worth of rent and would restore the $20,000 in savings she's lost. In the meantime, I will also be reaching out within our local community to see if anyone can provide her with emergency housing in the interim.

Any additional funding past this goal would go towards helping my mom rebuild her life and reconnect to her sense of autonomy as she starts to heal.

She is a kind, loving person who has supported me through everything. We've both experienced a lot of abuse and it pains me to see that cycle continue now. I am genuinely afraid for her life and am trying as best I can to get her out of this. I would do anything for my mom and right now that includes asking for help!

My friend has been in the hospital for four days now.

Fadel (@fadel-dani) has a blood disorder that, without consistent access to medication and treatment, causes severe anemia. This is life threatening. The hospital cannot discharge him because his blood count is dangerously low.

He needs about 420 euros urgently to pay for the days he's already spent in the hospital, but ideally more than that because he doesn't know when he will be discharged.

This isn't Greta Thunberg’s fault, she couldn’t have been a better ally, but it’s so disheartening how her kidnapping and mistreatment for five days have rallied so many people, when what she went through is only a fraction of a fraction of what thousands of Palestinian men, women, girls, and boys, who have been routinely kidnapped, tortured, and raped to unimaginably evil lengths for months or even years, often to the point of death, have endured and are still enduring as we speak.

And I know that’s the whole point of why she did what she did. She knew that, as a young high-profile white European girl, her mistreatment would result in more uproar, and she intended to use that privilege to raise awareness of what is happening to Palestinians. That’s why the first thing she did after her release, when the press asked her to speak in detail about her own mistreatment, was to shift the conversation instead to how Israel continues to escalate its genocide against Palestinians.

I just wish people understood her message and gave the same energy toward helping Palestinians without waiting for a White Westerner to risk their life first.

I am Anas, from the Gaza strip. I'm reporting on something very important to my friends from around the world, especially in Latin America, Spain and other hispanic countries.

These days we've been going through yet another disaster. There's another plan to displace us yet again from the north towards the south. A lot of families have already started to move away, to escape the upcoming dangers.

The news are all very negative. There's another huge evacuation for all of Gaza, from the north to the south. We're facing the same adversities as last year, the same plan as a few months ago.

The biggest calamity as of yet, because they intend to destroy all that remains of Gaza. Due to that, we're very worried, very scared of going through the same thing again.

I hope the whole world opens their eyes to the reality of this plan, or rather, this calamity.

Anas is a 23 years old medicine student whom I've been in contact with for over half a year now.

Not only is he enduring a brutal, horrific genocide, but he has developed gastric cancer. He's severely ill, weak, in pain, throwing up blood repeatedly, and on top of it all, very mentally and emotionally unwell due to his campaign moving so slowly and his dreams of becoming a doctor to help his people being crushed thanks to the state of Israel.

Recently he became injured when trying to get food for his family. Due to the lack of nutrients thanks to the famine and lack of any medical attention, his wound has stayed open for multiple days and is infected. He URGENTLY needs antibiotics and they're exceedingly difficult and expensive to obtain in Gaza.
