Fandom: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Summary:

There’s probably a lot that Finn needs, now he’s conscious again, and probably half of it Poe is never going to be able to figure out, but at least he can tell him the stories.

Additional Warnings: To expand on the tags: this fic explores Poe and Finn figuring things out after the destruction of the Starkiller planet. Poe isn't trained to help someone who's experienced trauma and doesn't always get it right. Finn, as a programmed stormtrooper, we know has had at least some kinds of abuse and trauma - I've left details non-specific, but there is potentially the implication of non-con or dub-con having happened to him.

VERY GOOD. A lot of TFA fic is about the characters dealing with trauma, and this story is one of the best examples I’ve read so far. Also, I really like what this fic has to say about the importance of stories.

Summary:

Cesare finds out later who she is, and for a little while he thinks he is supposed to hate her, the half-sister who has everything he doesn't, everything Juan doesn't, everything she could ever want. But he doesn't hate her. He writes her name in the back of one of his notebooks: Lucrezia, Lucrezia, and then he closes the book and shoves it under his bed and forgets about it for a long, long time.

Modern Mafia AU.

Usually I'm not comfortable with C/L fic, so it's a sign of how good this story is that I'm reccing it. A compelling read, brilliantly written from Cesare's POV.

Patrick had a letter written on his wrist when he was born, small and even in black pen-print. Well, technically it started to show up a day after he was born, like a bruise that takes time to settle in. Patrick doesn’t remember, obviously, but his parents will tell him whenever he asks, how small it was and how it just... faded in, a little ‘J’.

A typical "the name of your soulmate is on your hand" AU, which I take no credit for, I don't even know where the trope idea came from, but it's one of my favorites, and this fandom needs more soulmates fic, says I. Beta'd by Bekka.

Idk, I'm not even in this fandom at all, but this is just a really good read!

Allison Argent will not let Derek Hale know he affects her. She is not a flimsy tree swaying in the wind. She’s an oak… or a thick maple or an elm or something. Look the point is: she’s strong. And she’s not going to let someone like Derek Hale make her smile or laugh or do anything remotely sunny. She will not dance for him.

(Or the fic in which Allison never wanted to be here in the first place, there are snow demons, and Derek Hale looks hot homeless).

Man, I love this (tragically rare) pairing, and this is a wonderful example of it. Prickly interactions, emotional connection, hot sex - the whole package!

This is less an AU than a fic that starts ignoring canon about from the point I stopped watching (post season 2). Future fic.

Summary:

It just figured that this was the longest they'd stayed put at a single base since she joined up with the Alliance. She'd give anything to go back to the humid jungles of Yavin IV, or hell, even that shithole Dantooine, but no. Here she was, stuck in this frozen wasteland until their commanders got twitchy enough to move base again, or the Empire gathered enough intelligence to burn this location too.

Star Wars AU, where all the 100 gang are members of the Rebel Alliance.

Love this fic, and would enthusiastically read about a million more words of story set in this universe.

Octavia cocks her head. “He’s a senior in college,” she says slowly, in the bewildered tone she adopts whenever people are being dense. “What does he need his high school English textbook for?”

Clarke shrugs. “It just feels weird to borrow his things.”

“God, Clarke.” Octavia rolls her eyes. “Why are you and Bellamy always so neurotic around each other? It’s a book. Relax.”

If the delinquents are to retain their ground, their laws, and their freedom, then they will need an insurgent on their side, as well as a Princess... And he's running bloody late.

AU: When Diana Sydney and her mother make it down to the ground, Clarke has to decide who to trust and what side she's on - and what she's willing to risk to protect people and ideals that she cares about.

Wonderful Bellarke and Griffin family feels. This fic raises some tough questions and resolves them excellently. Loved the portrayal of Clarke's dynamic with Bellamy - both from her POV, and from Abby's (in a way that hit all my outsider POV kinks!).

AU after 1x11. Clarke works out a peace agreement and becomes the healer for Anya's tribe. Bellamy is less than happy with the arrangement.

A great fic with slow-burn Bellarke, where the 100 and the grounders actually have to find a way to live with one another. I really liked the way grounder culture and society was portrayed here. I also enjoyed reading about the 100 getting through the first couple years on the ground, in an AU where they were actually able to do so without outside interference.

Aurora Blake whispers her grandfather’s stories in her children’s ears, oro plata mata, the white lady, one revolution after another, elf kings who live inside balete trees.

Bellamy likes the war stories, the valiant last stands of long-gone martyrs, adios patria adorada, region del sol querida, but Octavia’s favorite tale is the one about May Day Eve.

“In the time of the Spaniards, when the clock struck the first of May,” their mother says, “a woman could take a candle into a darkened room and see the face of her future husband in a mirror— but, if she wasn’t careful, she would see the Devil himself.”

Bellamy doesn’t want to see the Devil, nor is he particularly interested in seeing his future wife, but Octavia dares him to do it. And so, one night when he is sixteen, after the clock has struck twelve and left April behind, he takes a flashlight and quietly makes his way down the long dark corridors, footsteps buoyed by the hum of the Ark’s engines and the dreams of its sleeping passengers.

It looks bigger than normal, and even though Oak told her that babies grow in the ground like corn, and that’s why Wren has to come stay with him and his parents whenever there’s one being born in camp, because it’s Wren’s mom’s job to go out and dig them up, Wren doesn’t believe it. It sounds pretty dumb, and besides, Mama never has dirt on her hands, ever. Wren would notice.

It's from Kate's POV, which is so much fun. Haven't actually read any of these comics, but Avengers fannish osmosis was enough to let me follow this fic. Was almost impossible to find a part to quote, because it's such an entertaining read I kept wanting to paste in whole pages.
