I have a headcannon that, whilst Percy was missing, Annabeth practically lived 24/7 with Sally.

Imagine, the first day she sees Sally. She has rushed from camp in a taxi to see her.

Imagine, Annabeth stays strong and doesn't cry, she comforts Sally and tells her the camp is doing everything they can to find Percy.

Imagine, Sally insists Annabeth stays the night.

Imagine, the moment Annabeth steps into the shower she breaks. She sits on the cold tiles as water rushes over her, and sobs.

Imagine, when she gets out if the shower, she finds that Sally has left some of Percy's pajamas for her to change into.

Imagine, Annabeth sits on the end of Percy's bed with silent tears streaming down her face. Everything reminds her of him. The way his clothes smell. The blue food that Sally cooks. The picture of him and Annabeth sitting on his bedside table.

Imagine, for the next few months. Sally, Paul and Annabeth live together.

Imagine, when Sally receives the voice message from Percy, she calls Annabeth. She drops everything and races over.

Imagine, they sit on the couch together, replaying the message over and over, laughing with relief as tears form in their eyes.

Here are some reasons that I not only forgive Luke, but adore him as a character:

He went through so much hardship. His mother was extremely mentally unstable, she scared him to the point that he ran away at a young age.

Hermes would would never visit Luke or try to help him. He left him alone with a woman who frightened him and no way to help her.

When Luke did find a family, (Annabeth and Thalia) Thalia was taken away from him, only for him to have to look at her in tree form ever day, but she was completely unreachable.

When he found Kronos it wasn't just his father he was angry with. Yes his father had abandoned him. But he was angry with Zeus, for turning Thalia into a goddamn tree that Luke would have to walk past every. Single. Day.

He was mad at Athena, for allowing Annabeth to live in an abusive household, forcing her to run away at the age of 7.

He was mad at Apollo for allowing his mother to try to become the Oracle of Delphi, turning her insane.

He was mad at every god who's child was left in cabin eleven, unclaimed, unwanted and alone.

During the Titan war, he realised that Kronos wanted to rule the world in an evil heirarchy. I guarantee that if all Kronos planned to do was wipe out the gods, Luke would have gone through with it. Because, and I think we can all agree, the gods were in the wrong. They had been abandoning their children for centuries and forcing them to fight and die gory deaths for them.

In fact, I believe that if Kronos's only intention was to wipe out the gods. Percy would have joined him. And annabeth, and hundred of other demigods.

But Luke sees through Kronos's deception, and sees that he is being used as a pawn. And he does what is necessary stop Kronos.

Luke not only makes for a fantastic villain. But he is a complex and beautiful character.
