This drawing shit is easy who wants season 3
PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP OF A PERFECTLY BAKED, LIGHT AND AIRY VANILLA CAKE, CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS DANG SCENE this is, so far, some of my favourite panels in the series & by extension some of my favourite ashler panels, too, and I DO NOT SEE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT IT ENOUGH. In fact, I have never seen anybody talking about it beyond "Aidlyn hug" and "ofc Aiden knows that Ashlyn doesn't like carrots". This might be a me problem tho, I might just be finding myself on the wrong side of the internet, in which case, pretty sbg / ashler people, please take me with you if you find this post and guide me towards the light bc at the moment I'm a girl with a blindfold on shouting "SCHOOL BUS GRAVEYARD SCHOOL BUS GRAVEYARD SBG SBG SBG" into an empty field as if I'm calling for a dog, in hopes that the dog finds me by itself somehow Even in the webcomic itself, they just carry on with whatever they were doing, paying literally NO attention to Tyler's words and it drives me insane. I'm going to steal this beautiful jerk's (points in @tragedry's direction), who is also the one at fault for the existence of both the twins and ashler worms in my head, headcanon (? ig kinda? does that classify as a headcanon?), in which Ashlyn thinks being loved is the highest form of trust. Additionally, due to Tyler's skepticism and his history of being the only one he could trust with taking care of himself and his family, it takes a lot to gain his trust (took him literal horrors beyond human comprehension AND a death experience to start, brick by brick, removing the walls he'd built). And what is this if not a display of nothing but trust? Tyler doesn't say "it's not your fault", instead, he says "well, shucks, if you pulled us in then you should be able to pull us out, too". I trust you to be able to. Deep down, he understands that this is, technically, Ashlyn's fault (as she's the only one that seemed to have some sort of connection to the phantom dimension), and, unlike when Tyler died, Taylor is hurt, too. Taylor being affected plays a major role in how he perceives an event, I imagine, which is something I really wanna explore by writing a "Taylor's the one to fall out of the car" au at one point in this lifetime. That's also partially why he was able to forgive Ashlyn so fast: she didn't turn back for him, kept the group- kept Taylor safe, put her (Taylor's) well-being over his, which is something he'd do in a blink of an eye, without hesitation, too (put Taylor's safety over his, I mean, not over Ashlyn's, curse the gendered pronouns). But this is a much bigger matter, because here he is not the only sufferer. He has all the reasons to throw a fit and blame Ashlyn for every bad thing that happened to them- had he been less of a well-written character, added into the story just to fill up the space of "the jerk of the group", that's what he would most likely end up doing. In fact, I can see the potential for an in-group conflict based precisely on that. Picture this: there is our main character, finding out that every misfortune that's been happening to them is her fault. And then we have the jerk that's been sarcastic and skeptical since day one. I mean, they even had that whole fight at the very beginning of the series, right? And they've been butting heads a bunch ever since, right? So doesn't a major conflict between these two make perfect sense now? (1/2)
sbg gang shenanigans !! Tyler vs the gang
You can tell i drew it really quickly because of how ass their arms look sorry guys I can’t draw limbs
Im low-key so frustrated at myself because Red put something on her story a few weeks ago that had a small preview of a Tyler and Aiden interaction for season 3 and I didn't screenshot it 💔
The story was talking about how she used some things her sister said (I'm pretty sure) for the story and she was showing her sister or text(?)
If y'all have a screenshot or know what the freak I'm talking about let me know 😔😔😔
The Aiden Hair Rant
(Season 2, Episode 93; Photo above.) (Season 1, Episode 1; Photo Below.)
I wonder what kind of bleach Aiden uses to dye his hair. I highly doubt he's going to a salon, but given his initial hair color? That first time bleaching his hair (again, presumably on his own) must've taken a lot of bleach. And even at a Salon, that color must've taken hours to achieve.
(His original color shown below, screenshot of panel found in season 2, episode 56)
Taylor is canonically very fucking strong and I don’t see that being talked about enough
happy birthday red !!
thx for creating a peak webtoon ily
I decided to look up the names of all the sbg characters to see if they have meaning.
Ashlyn means “dream” or “vision”. Just like what her parents thought they saw at her birth, which could have inspired the name?! Just like what the facility tried to convince them that the phantom dimension was?! Just like her “auditory hallucinations”?!
Aiden means “energetic” or “passionate”. This could be how his parents saw him, given that the parents obviously named him. They only saw his mask without trying to see his soul. Aiden also means “fire”, but fire can burn out, no?
Taylor refers to the job as a “tailor” meaning to work with cloth. While this doesn’t seem to symbolic on the outside, what tailors did was mending and fixing the clothes and garments, much like how Taylor is the “fixer” of the group, always knowing what to say or do to get the group back on track, getting along, and working together.
Tyler means a few things. One of those is “house builder”, which symbolizes how he rebuilt the house after his dad died. Another one is “owner of a tavern” which basically means to own the house, symbolizing how he had to take over as the “man of the house” because his dad died, his mom was emotionally unavailable, and Taylor was too busy taking care of their mom.
Ben means “son”, or “youngest”, which could symbolize his timid nature as a kid. It could also symbolize how Shane and his group tried to “take him in” to teach him to fight, but he kept refusing. It could also symbolize how after he lost his voice and developed mental health issues, the people around him saw him as someone in need of protection or care.
Logan means "cove”, which means “sheltered or kept away”. This could symbolize how his family was in a criminal organization, but his grandparents kept him away from that seemingly after his parents died/left him. It could also symbolize how he never told his friends about this life, keeping them away from that.
Hey so I just gotta point something out real quick. Was discussing this scene with a couple of discord buddies @m-er-cu-ry and @son--of--hestia and we were picking apart this pannel.
At first I was like "yeah this must be a mini shift like the one that Taylor triggered at the hospital" and then...
I spotted something.
Her scar.
The one she got in Savannah when they "shifted" for the first time and, I guess, "created" their PD bodies.
The one that only shows up on her PD body.
You know what else ONLY SHOWS ON HER PD BODY???
Short hair.
Not long. Short.
Her hair here is long AND she has the scar!?
LIKE HELLO??? WHAT IS THIS??? DID THEY MERGE?
(Also her eyes are black...)
[ANOTHER EDIT- If you look at the og pannel on the webtoon its achually a GIF (see episode 73), the Phantoms flicker in and out... as does the scar!]
EDIT:
Another weird thing:
There's no scar here...
Aiden being the banker was the worst fucking decision that could have been made
Baby Logan has grown from not understanding sarcasm
To absolutely roasting the others
He's so pathetic.....
AND I LOVE HIM FOR THAT
Like why is he just standing there 💔his attention span has been so deflated from being in a cell that he finds watching kids running from danger entertaining enough. He's got monkey brain activated
"Durrr, I'm bored, Imma follow these kids without thinking of the consequences"
AND THEN HE'S SURPRISED WHEN JASMINE LOGICALLY ASSUMES HE'S ALSO 'BETRAYED' THE CULT
he's such a dum dum, look at him 💘💘
quite literally "monkey see monkey do"
I need more Charlie content I love my stupid little coyote 💔💔
I wanna see him more pathetic looking, like a bug after you lift up a rock
the sbg kids are special to me because in no normal situation would any of these kids willingly get to together and become a friend group considering how different their personalities are, but because of the life or death situation they all HAVE to trust each other whether they like it or not.
employee of the month ⭐
i think an underappreciated element of ashlyn's character is her dry sense of humor and ability to go along with a bit despite literally having no friends and little to no social life before meeting the gang.
like take this scene from episode 28:
this bit is still hilarious to me, even to this day. i love how ready she was to throw hands at the sight of clownassery (courtesy of aiden, ofc)
it's honestly such a fun concept of her character, and i love getting to see her be silly (or threatening) bc she's the #1 person you do not wanna piss off. ever.
