I previously reblogged a list of 23 emotions people feel but cannot explain. Iām not exactly in the business of Experiencing Emotions, but I really wanted to write some poetry based off of the words and their meaning.
Each poem will be titled with the word and the actual title of the poem itself, and Iāll share the meaning of it as well.

ive been reading a book that basically explains how so-calledĀ ābrain differencesā between the genders is the result of gendered socialization and not the cause of it. i honestly expected the book to be very cis-centric but its actually the opposite, the author stresses that testimony from trans ppl is actually indispensable because weāve, in a sense,Ā ālived both experiencesā
one of the first examples that she uses to introduce her point about how perception by others can shape a personās performance actually uses a trans woman. it explains that as a certain trans woman became to be seen as a woman more and more frequently, the ppl arond her eventually started viewing her as being ill equipped for tasks that they did not bother her about pre-transition. eventually she even found herself underperforming in these tasks herself.
I knew it was this book before Iād finished reading the first two lines. Honestly this book is indispensible if you want to debunk any gender determinism people claim is science. I canāt recommend it enough.
Sheās written a new one! It won the Royal Society prize for science book of the year, and itās called Testosterone Rex, and it is excellent.
(Bonus: itās making old white men really really mad.)
(Bonus bonus: I am myself a neuroscientist, and the old white men mentioned above ā who are not ā could not have missed the point harder if theyād actively tried. Which. Maybe?)
Ok, so how many other Writeblrs are Ace/AceSpec???
With Ace Week I'm seeing a lot of posts being reblogged about Asexuality and the spectrum. Not to mention a lots of notes on the tags. I'd love to meet more people like me, so I want to know which other writeblrs are on the spectrum!
Please reblog if you are and I'll check out your blog! Those who I already follow are encouraged to reblog too.
š: where are you in the writing process?Ā
Outlining! I have this huge whiteboard on my wall next to my fishies, and Iām using it to outline Swallowed Whole. Somehow itās written like some weird news article, with each large point worded likeĀ āLocal Citizen Diesā andĀ āThree Local Young Adults Discuss Religion.ā Itās odd
š: which future scene are you looking forward to writing?
So, uh, spoilers, but there is a Death. Someone dies. And the energy in that scene, the emotion of it - I really want to see just how it plays out and how I can best write that.
Hello! Iāve had this blog for a little while now, but I havenāt worked with it much. As I now get more into my craft, I think itās time to start using it. Hereās a little about me:
*My name is Ridley, but I also go by Red. Iām 19 and Iām genderfluid nonbinary.
*I run two other blogs, @redaniels-writes and @movieswithred.Ā
*Iām an eclectic chaos witch, and I worship Nyx and Elen of the Ways.
*I mostly practice divination, but I occasionally also work with crystals and herbs. I do astral project and often work with astral beings.
*My animal guide is currently a deer, the skull of which I have tattooed onto my hand.
I hope to use this blog to meet other witches and further my craft! I know I have quite a bit to learn, and I love to know more about othersā crafts even if it isnāt the same as mine.
Hey, guys! I have a side-blog that Iām trying to work on now and use more often. Iāll be using it more frequently than this one in the days coming up to NaNoWriMo as a way to chill and relax before working on my project.
If paganism or witchcraft is your thing, feel free to reblog this!Ā

āThe earth is alive. It sings, it breathes, and it remembers.ā
ā Project Vestige; @pens-swords-stuffā
Placeholder Title: Project Vestige
Genre: YA/NA, Magical Realism, Mystery
Current Status: Nanowrimo 2019 Project; Outlining and planning
Synopsis:Ā
When Brooke started hearing voices, she thought that she was going insane. There was laughter when she was all alone, she overheard arguments in empty spaces⦠Sheās not losing her grip on reality however. The earth remembers. It remembers the conversations, the laughter, sobs, and the shouts. Itās called place memory, and the places whisper and repeat them out loud so that nothing is ever truly forgotten. Anyone can hear it ā all you have to do is listen and pay attention. Most people canāt hear place memory or ignore it because theyāre too distracted with their own lives, but Brooke is listening now, and sheās paying attention to every murmur.
People are disappearing in Antium. At first it seems like no big deal ā just a college student skipping town ā but one by one, more people go missing.Ā Itās the Bay Witch, the locals say, the Bay Witch is snatching people away just like she did in the past; itās happened before. Could it really be a local legend thatās responsible for these disappearances, or is there something far more sinister happening in Antium? Using her newfound discovery of place memory, Brooke and her friends start unraveling the truth behind the Bay Witch and missing people from over a hundred years ago. Little do they know, learning what truly happened back then may pave the way to them finding the missing people in the present.

Please stay tuned, Iāll be talking about this a lot in the next couple months.
Please let me know if youāre interested in being on the tag list!
Listen. I hated this prompt. I donāt like what I wrote. Yeet me out a window, I beg you.
...
Duh-dum.
Duh-dum.
Duh-dum.
Slowly beating, can you hear it?
A steady drumming. One simple pattern.
It stirs up something. The room is black. You cannot see. You can only hear.
Duh-dum.
Duh-dum.
Duh.
A skip. Patterns are not meant to be broken.
Quiet now, weāre scaring them. The blood is rushing. You can hear that too, canāt you? A steady, easy rush through their body.
Muscles clenching, opening up. Iām hungry. So desperate. You are, too. I can smell it.
Theyāre scared. Donāt touch. Not yet. Theyāre supposed to be sleeping.
Duh-dum.
Duh-dum.
Duh-dum.
Itās back in rhythm. Lick your lips. Maybe they can hear us now. I want them to know weāre here.
Is it your first time? Go ahead. Get closer.
Listen to their chest, but donāt touch them yet. Not yet. Wait. Be patient.
I know youāre starving. I am too.
Waiting to devour them whole. One fell swoop, and their in your chest, pounding, a beating heart beside your own.
Duh-duh-dum-dum.
Duh-duh-dum-dum.
Fun, isnāt it? Oh, donāt get all riled up. I canāt have you fucking this up. I canāt have you ruining what I did. All my hard work.
Theyāre sleeping now. You can get closer. Closer now. Stay quiet. Listen. Can you hear it?
Duh-dum.
Duh-dum.
Duh-dum.
The gentle pattern of their heart. Itās quick, but they might have forgotten about us.
Shh. Are you hungry? I am, too. Just be gentle now.
Start at the top. We canāt let anyone else hear us feasting, can we? I hate my meal being interrupted.
Duh-dum.
Duh-
Good.
