You can always go back, but no one will be there.

Unicorn Foal Sketch early stages
The Year of the Horse (Unicorn) 2026
I took a lot of inspiration from Hilma af Klint for this one, and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
I was listening to Lana Del Rey/Lizzy Grant’s unreleased masterpiece “Oh Say Can You See,” while painting this and the line “nighttime is almost ours” stuck to my brain. I love the theme of dark and light, Angel and devil, “good” and “bad.”
Art vs. Artist
Mermaids and Selkies, 2024
This is how PMDD feels every month for me. A raging, spiteful wolf in my head, growling and whispering hateful lies to me. It’s quiet for the first few days, and its growls get louder and louder right before my menstrual cycle until it finally goes back into hiding until it’s bitter return the next month. And so the cycle continues.
White Wolf of the Secret Valley, 2025 by Rose Lanning
I pictured this hilly, lush and green valley that is only accessible on foot through a secretive tunnel that takes you under need the ground and up the mountain onto the other side. Ruling its domain is a great white wolf, named Nurit. She’s a force for good and tries to keep to herself, but sometimes causes havoc when her soft fluffy tail brushes against the thatched huts by accident, causing minor damage to the roofs.

Wave, but don’t speak to the entities with the horns after dark. They aren’t your friends. They can mimic your voice perfectly.
Masha Takes Tea, 2025 by Rose Lanning.
Masha is a mystical, magical black wolf from my imagination. She lives in the forest and befriends people who are able to see her, like the young woman who lives in the cabin, and invites her in for a cup of smokey leaf tea.
