I want you to remember who you are despite the bad things happening to you because those bad things aren't you. They are just things that happen to you. You need to accept that who you are and the things that happen to you are not one and the same.

Romans 1:20 declares that the intricacies of our universe point to a Designer and are proofs for the existence of God. Another Scripture that describes how creation points to God is Psalm 19. Captivated and awed by the immensity and beauty of the skies, David simply declares that God exists: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands” (v. 1). The majestic creation testifies to the presence and power of the even more majestic Creator God. David reflects on how God has revealed Himself to mankind so that we can know Him. God reveals Himself through His created works (vv. 1-6) and His spoken Word (vv. 7-11). In response, David prays for an obedient and faithful life (vv. 12-14).

Fear and shame can be a valid response to sin. It’s appropriate to be ashamed of what we’ve done and to fear the consequences. But fear and shame shouldn’t be the end of our story, because both are resolved in Jesus, whose cry of fear and shame—“My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”—swallows our pangs of guilt and terror (Mark 15:34).
When we give ourselves to the One who hung on a cross and was raised for us, we no longer need to hang our heads or cower in fear.
God longs for us to know and glorify Him by hiding Scripture in our hearts and by obeying His commands rather than straying from them (Psalm 119:11). We’re invited to experience deeper intimacy with Him and the delight the Bible offers by reciting aloud the regulations He’s given us, rejoicing in His laws as much as riches, studying His commandments, and remembering and reflecting on His ways (Psalm 119:13-16).
Let’s take in Scripture and recite it aloud or silently in communication with God. He will fill us with His wisdom and truth to guide us through the ever-changing seasons of life.
A burdened conscience is a heavy weight to carry. Ever since the fall of man in the garden of Eden, our response to sin has been either to blame others (Gen. 3:12-13) or take responsibility for our transgression before God (1 John 1:9). The penitent in today’s psalm acknowledges his transgressions to his Creator and Redeemer and experiences the cleansing of his conscience and with it the lifting of a burdensome load. Clearly this psalm teaches us that we can experience freedom from the bondage of sin through divine forgiveness

Similarly, when God gave His people guidelines for how to treat others, He reminded them that even those who seemed most different from them—foreigners—were not, because they too were once foreigners (Leviticus 19:33).
Dear God, I thank You that I can always turn to You. When I am faced with the difficulties of life, I can put my trust in You. Thank you that You are my “refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Psalm 46:1
