last November @alex_murawski invited me to spend a few days with students of @uga_dodd_art at the University of Georgia in Athens GA. a handful of students participated in my ‘Rotational Shadow’ workshop over the weekend. each student was assigned a letter and had pick a noun that started with the same letter. they then had to assemble found objects in a way to create a silhouette of the noun and then when the assemblage is rotated 90 degrees it had to reveal the letterform. after each project was completed we then compiled them to spell out Lamar Dodd Arts. i consider this workshop a foundations exercise, its not a portfolio piece but it it incorporates many aspects of what i consider in my work on a daily basis. including character design, hands on manipulation and assemblage of found objects, 2D - 3D spacial relations, composing visual elements in camera, lighting, photography, controlling audience point of view, etc. to read more on the process (link in profile)

a new commission for Computer World. Thanks to April Montgomery for the project. the story is about hiring and/or being a highly qualified CIO who forgoes a regular salary and benefits for the freedom and breadth of experience offered in being an interim CIO for a string of fast-paced, high-stakes projects. We decided to run with a western twist for the 'Gun For Hire' theme.
