Speed sketch, but also practicing clothing patterns. Modern Robdelia. Protip: If you draw them wearing a hoodie, anatomy doesn't matter, lol.
secret affair
Rinkah and Charlotte. Charlotte's armor had some details I got confused about. Stippling actually kind of works for muscle definition, which is a good discovery.
How are you this good at shading drawings? Mine never comes out as well.
I appreciate that you think I'm good at it. In all fairness, the areas I shade aren't always **technically correct.
Um, I could try to provide tips?
I used to rely a lot on cross hatching, the crisscross lines you see for shadows on my older drawings. Cross hatching is a good method and it gives pieces a certain charm. But lately I've been more into parallel hatching, the straight diagonal lines. In my opinion, it comes out looking a little more polished that. I like the sketchy, unpolished look of cross hatching a lot, though. You could experiment with different kinds of shading and see what looks good on your drawings? I still do that, even though I've been drawing for such a long time. There are several more methods than the ones I mentioned, and I'm sure there are some good tutorials on YouTube. **If you mean that you don't know where to shade, what I do is try to picture the sun or a light source in one place when I'm shading, and shade where I think the natural shadows would be. You can even lightly scribble a little sun in the corner of your drawing and erase it later! That was quite helpful for me for a long time until I could picture it in my mind better.
I'm sure your shading is better than you think it is. I notice that almost 100% of the time when someone shares their art with me and says that it isn't very good, it looks a lot better than they're giving themselves credit for to me.
