In a plot twist, I'm sharing fan fic today! In ANOTHER plot twist, it's not related to the Steve Miller Au or FFXV, but is my piece for the @star-crossed-sabezra-fanzine! Link here! It's basically a look at what I would love to see in Ahsoka S2 but probably won't. First lines under the cut, and thank you again to the incredible hosts/moderators and contributors of this event! You guys are amazing
“We’re gonna get her back.”
Ezra’s serious words drew Sabine’s attention. Looking up from the schematics she was studying, she glanced over to where he was kneeling, next to Jacen. Her heart pinched a little at the look in Jacen’s eyes. “Are you sure?” he whispered, voice shaking.
“Absolutely,” Ezra said, his grin easy, and Sabine saw some of the fear leave Jacen’s eyes. He’d only known Ezra for a few days now, but had heard stories about him all his life. He’d never doubt that Ezra was telling him the truth.
(and oh, how Sabine hoped it was the truth.)
Ezra, meanwhile, hadn’t known Jacen existed until they returned from Peridea, without Ahsoka but, unfortunately, with Thrawn. When they’d escaped and made it back to the ship where Hera had been waiting for them, he’d been introduced to the boy, and Sabine still cherished the look of absolute shock on his face when he’d realized that Hera and Kanan had a son.
A son who was now terrified for his mother’s life.
“What do you see?” Ezra asked, turning to Sabine, and Sabine turned her attention back to the camp down the slope from them.
“It’s a good hideout,” she said, studying the vibrant red stone cliffs that enclosed the old ruined village that they’d tracked Thrawn’s men to. “Hard to access with those gates, and there’s not much for approaches above. Turns out Dathomir was the right place for Thrawn to hide out. What made him so interested in it, anyway?”
“The Nightmothers or whatever they’re called,” Ezra said, moving to crouch down next to her. He’d shaved and cleaned up after they’d gotten back from Peridea, but his hair was still as long as it had been when they’d first met. Long and soft looking, curling slightly along his jawline.
Focus, Sabine. “Yeah, we met,” Sabine said dryly. “Not a fan.”
“You and me both,” Ezra said, flashing her a quick grin that made her heart skip a beat. “We need a better look inside.”
