in the time she had known him, the one thing she knew was that he could almost always tell if something wasn't right. and in that moment? something was bothering her. something her cousin had told her before she excused herself to go sit outside. "it has to do with my cousin." maybe it was something stupid to others, but not to her. not when it gave her a bad feeling. "she wants to move in with that human boyfriend of hers." she started off. if the guy had been nice, she wouldn't be so objective over it. but he was rude. and just over all horrible from what aylia could see.
"i met him once and i got nothing but bad vibes from him." maybe she was wrong on this though. but she couldn't be that supportive person to her cousin at the moment. she tried so hard to be supportive too. but this? her cousin wanting to just move in with a guy she's been dating for only a few months. that was a no for her.
There it was. That ability to tell when she wanted to say something. However, he wouldn't have her talk about it if she didn't want to. He listened intently. Relationship situation? he was hardly the one to give advice regarding that. "Ah," he stated with a nod of his head, "and you're not comfortable with your cousin's choice in suiter?" There were plenty of people who would not be considered good.
"Does he respect your cousin?" or was the relationship volatile, toxic, and bound to end? "If he's the type that you feel would do harm rather than good, have you talked to your cousin about it?" he stated, looking up at her.
the younger vampire cants her head at his admission. what was that she felt in a moment for him? she wanted to, oh god did she ever want to fully let it in. to forgive him but the hate seethed under her skin, her veins down to her soul. she was ruined.
" if only you would have simply asked. " she doesn't need to spell it out. if asked, she would have gladly turned. to leave her fiancee, her home. their affair went down to her bones, the same ones that ached after the bloodbath. the ones that ached in recovery of an attempt at understanding why this had happened. she was sinful but why did her family have to die? it was a burden she's carried all these centuries as well as the torch for the elder vampire.
" i would have been by your side quite literally forever. " she confesses, though there is a tone of sadness to her reminisce. " i understand why you didn't, after all these centuries.... humans are weak. i was weak. "
It was interesting how the roles were reversed this time, Seojin coming to terms with his past, while Leyla refused to allow the past to remain there. He was sure it was due to the witch he encountered, he wasn't the same after that.
He paused if only you would have simply asked. The thought back then was--it wasn't meant to be forever. Back then, he didn't consider her fate to be long-term. Yet, she would have dropped everything to be by his side. He suddenly felt an unfamiliar feeling creep into his chest. Something along the lines of an ache, though he didn't understand why. Was this guilt? remorse? or sorrow that life had turned out this way.
"And condemn you to a life like this?" he gave a light laugh, but it was empty; it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Humans were mere playthings, century over centuries, that is all it was," he slowly looking up at her. But her death? that was supposed to be left to him. "Perhaps the strong ones have risen." Looking at her now, he didn't see that weakness. Then again, humans were fragile things.
leyla gives a light shake of her head and a stifled scoff. " not for me it isn't. " there would never be enough time to feel vindicated, only coming to short relief when blood is on her hands and the screams echoing through her ears. " what do you expect to get out of this ? " she bluntly asks, slightly curious. " absolution ? retribution to one's self ? how noble if so. " the last two words sarcastically, almost mocking. ironically she could remember he could be noble but attached to that was a facade. " that it is. some of us just prefer to be on the other end, isn't that right ? the cat can kill a mouse and go for milk later but their teeth are still stained with the blood. what's the saying ? a zebra cannot change their stripes ? "
If he was being honest, Seojin wasn’t sure what he expected by walking this path—a different road than the one carved in blood and consequence. Absolution? Retribution? Maybe he just wanted to silence the ghosts that came to him in the dark, the ones that refused to fade. Atonement wasn’t something earned overnight, and facing someone he had once broken only reminded him of the weight he carried.
He didn’t expect her to understand. Her tone, the mock in her voice—it barely brushed against him. Time had dulled his reactions, tempered him into something quieter, colder. But beneath that calm, the ember of his temper still lived, waiting.
His gaze didn’t waver, though a flicker of something almost human passed through his eyes. “Maybe I can’t change the stripes, Leyla…” he said quietly, his voice low, rough with restraint. “But I’m still trying not to wear them like a trophy.”

"Uhm... I don't know. I lived in New York City forever, so, like..." He drawls off head bobbing back and forth as he continues measuring before tucking a pencil behind his ear. "When you hear 'bout people dying all the time, you don't think much of it, but it is unfortunate for the town. It's a small place." And that's his two cents on the matter, twang lazy and more unsure than dismissive as he continues to think about the recent events. "Hopefully they catch whoever or whatever did that, though."
"So you've traveled," and that was something she wanted to do as well. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy her small town; it was that there were other places to explore. "People die every day," she stated before looking over at him. "How many do you think people hear about?" Considering most missing people remain missing, whoever was doing these crimes wanted it to be known. "There is the possibility they have never left," her thoughts drifting off. If dark magic existed, then surely she was bound to find out a whole different world.

"i swear i did not just push my car all the way over here because it's a piece of shit." wylie syas failing his hands up. "it seems like everything is going to fucking shit ever since the news broke out of what happened by the woods, and my car broke down by the woods, i wasn't fucking staying there. i ruined my silk shirt pushing this car all the way here. you---" wylie says failing his hand at a random passerby, "you were the one helping me with this mumbo jumbo can't you explain to the mechanic the terrible struggle we had to go through just to get here?" wylie asks, batting his blue orbs over at the other.
"Ah, blaming the circumstances," she stated as she watched him approach. Comical even. How unfortunate for something to occur in coincidence with what had been happening in town. Was it a little too close? maybe. However, she was intrigued by the story as he spoke. "If you're sharp enough to speak as you are, you are enough to explain exactly what you just said hmm?"
open to: ryu seo-jin ( @redxvelvetx ) location: her uncles house
family dinners weren't something she was big on. when she was younger? sure. it wasn't that she hated being around her family. she loved them a lot. it was the fact that her cousins almost always brought over someone who was rude and disrespectful. and most of the time, human too. that made everything harder. yet there she was though, there for dinner. so far, no one out of the blue had come aside from the usuals. sitting on the porch swing ouside, a small sigh escaped her lips. hearing the footsteps of someone, she looked up to see it was him. the man she first met as a child. "didn't think you were going to come." she noted. her uncle had told her he was. but she never knew with him. sometimes he would come over, other times he wouldn't.
It had been years since Seojin last saw Aylia—years since he’d walked the familiar path to that house where memory clung to every shadow. Her uncle had been an old acquaintance, one Seojin had grown to respect, though even then, he’d kept his distance. That was his way—connections made, never held too close.
As he approached, the faint creak of the swing reached his ears, and there she was—exactly where he expected her to be. Time had touched her gently, though it was cruel in how swiftly it passed.
“Aylia,” he greeted, his voice low but steady, inclining his head slightly. “Something told me I should come by today.” His gaze lingered on her, sharp yet not unkind. He could read her silence the way others might read words. “I’m right, aren’t I?” he said quietly, nodding toward the empty yard and the house behind her. “You wouldn’t be out here if everything was fine.”
at that, her attention perked up, eyebrows raising in question. "june." she leaned forward, holding out her hand to be shook. "I think I've seen you before. some town event, maybe." she paused, considering the other's words for a moment. "what kind of investigation are we talking about?"
As she shook the other's hand, she felt a sensation, call it her magic responding, but she could sense something. She wasn't sure exactly what that something was. "Certainly, the events can bring quite a crowd." Sofiya liked to explore, go places she shouldn't be. She looked to the left, and then to the right. Leaned in to whisper for dramatic effect "The paranormal."
"oh I'm definitely curious. I want to make sure my ass isn't next on the chopping block." lucia spoke with determination. there was no way in hell she'd end up like one of those girls in horror movies, dying a gruesome death because they were dumb. she wanted to get to the bottom of what happened so she'd know how to avoid it. "aren't you worried?"
Shaking his head, most of the people here were easy targets. If it were a vampire kill, no doubt. But what game was this killer playing exactly? Vince wasn't worried at all. Why would he be? his attention fell back on the brunette. "If the town has a killer here, that's unsettling." It was actually exciting. A horror movie in this town? that was right up his alley.
Eddy walked over to the door and opened it up when he heard the man knock. Smiling at his friend, still a little surprised at how easy this all was. Honestly not expecting him to turn up, at least not that fast. "How the bloody hell would I know what the kids are calling things, Vinny?" He rolled his eyes playfully, moving to allow him in.
"Sorry I didn't lay out a spread or anything." He gestured to the empty room, completely void of anything other than the tv, basic amenities and a double bed, not that it would be of any use to Edward tonight. "Figured we could watch a film, catch up, it's been a fuckin' minute." It really hadn't been all that long since he last saw him, but Edward was always one to exaggerate.
"You hear about that mess near the woods? doesn't sound like one of the dogs doing, whole towns talking about it though, wouldn't want to be the vampire responsible for that shit show, huh old boy?"
"Considering you're much younger," he states with a smirk. It truly was annoying the amount of slang kids these days use to name things. Working at the college was slowly driving him crazy. As he entered the hotel room, he looked around. If this is where Edward called home, he honestly could do a little better.
"Don't worry about it, it's a movie, not a sleepover." he shook his head. "Careful there, Edward, it almost sounds like you like my company," he was teasing. Even if Edward didn't, Vincent was the type to bother regardless.
"I've seen some things in my time, and this is boring," he stated, looking at Edward. " Leave a bloody trail, but no body. I'll admit it's entertaining, but it needs a bit more spark," he shrugged his shoulders.

He could have stopped by the apartment; however, he wanted to hear more about the rumors in town. Gossip never changed; it was a broken version of the telephone game, and the stories were getting wilder. Smiling when he found Jemma, he grabbed the nearest flower and handed it to her. "Hello there, gorgeous."
status: OPEN location: town square muse: lucia cabrera-stanford
"did you hear about all the blood they found? so gross." lucia rolled her eyes, acting as if it was no big deal. deep down though, she knew something terrible had happened. all that blood belonged to someone--or something. to be wasted spilled like that...someone was trying to send a message. the whos and the whats were the real mystery. "what do we thing? animal attack? serial killer? someone totally tried to get rid of a body..."
Perhaps things were finally getting interesting, with the news of recent events whispered around town. Maybe there was an actual murderer they were dealing with. He had been on a run, considering acting human was tiring and quite dumb. Still, he followed it. It wasn't until he stopped acting like he needed a break, he paused when he heard another speak. "It was quite a statement. All that blood, no body." he raised a brow. "Are you asking because you're curious, or just filing it away as news?"
" no. " she's quick to respond with such venom in one word. she's imagined nothing else in these last three hundred years. dreamed of nothing except the older vampire writhing in agony in any way possible. " you took my home, my family. i would have died for you - suppose i did in the end. " but it was romantic nor a fairytale death. it was one committed to pursue a singular goal. " three hundred years mi amor and i'm not bored yet. what can i say, i'm focused. "
This was all very new to him; he wasn't sure if what the witch had done to him had changed something internally. After roaming this earth for five hundred years, he still felt a void. The venom in her voice was justified. He had done what she had said. "It's wasted time. Why would you choose to continue on? To be attached to me?" he tilted his head. "We all have had things taken, and death is a part of life. I'm not proud of who I was then."

Sammy was shooting hoops. It was something to help with his focus. The last few days, being coven leader, was stressful. He finally made a basket, his basketball shorts flowing in the wind. "He shoots and scores, Moro made a half court shoot." He exclaimed saying before spotting the vampire. There was an awkward wave. "I didn't see you there."
He had been passing by, on his days off from the hospital; he didn't mind going out for a walk. The person who usually accompanied him had other matters to attend to. Hearing a ruckus, his attention was turned towards the basketball court. Raising a brow, he looked over. "You should always be aware of your surroundings."
Who: Eddy & Vivian (@redxvelvetx Where: Nexus Hotel, Room 403 What: Closed Starter
It had been a slow shift at work and with no more check ins for the rest of the night Eddy knew he had a couple of hours to himself, and not intent on wasting the little bit of free time he had he thought it might be a good idea to spend some time with his favorite 'OAP'.
From the moment he had first met Vivian and quickly realised he didn't have a chance in hell with her, he had grown quite fond of just spending time with the old bird. She was dark, mysterious, as the kids today would say, one hundred percent his type on paper, if it wasn't for the fact she was more than three times his age. That didn't mean they couldn't spend time together though and he did like being around her, even if he didn't have quite the same life experience she did, something about her made him feel a little more 'normal'. Relative to the fact he was a blood sucking immortal beast.
Unable to leave the hotel he called Viv up on one of the many phones at his disposal and was a little bit surprised that she was down to hang out. Picking out one of the nicer rooms Nexus had to offer and even going to the effort of renting a movie through the hotel system, once he managed to work it out.
As he sat there on the bed waiting for Vivian to turn up, he couldn't help but feel a little unsure if this was a good idea. Eddy was a proud, confident, and sometimes cocky vampire, but even he felt a little insecure around Viv, in the vampiric sense of course.
As he heard the bell over the door downstairs chime, he couldn't help but wish he had at least prepared a snack, but then again the check ins tonight had been rather lacklustre.
Since arriving in this town, hhe had become rather bored to the same routine. The generations are changing, and I have to keep up with the change in terminology. This generation's vocab was fucking stupid. The only thing keeping him interested was the rumors and gossip whispering of strange things happening.
Hell, the mysterious blood path, but no bodies. That's like watching a horror movie without the main slasher. It's just following, and Vincent liked a good lead. So when he had met Eddy, and learned of his new vampirism. Eddy was still new to this ordeal.
The hotel option was comical, only because no one just hung out at a place where things don't end with small talk. Though he made it clear, she wasn't looking for no strings attached. At least not with him. When he arrived at the room number, he knocked on the door. "Is this what the kids are calling Netflix and chill?" he chuckled as the door opened. "What's up Eddy."
He had already caught her scent before the scent of the flowers. There was either push or pull, rarely ever an in-between. "How kind of you to suggest such flowers for someone you hardly know," he stated, turning over to look at Leyla. "Oh, on dirait pas." His voice stayed even, almost detached, but there was a faint curl at the corner of his mouth — not quite a smile, more like disbelief. "Perhaps you should own a cemetery since you enjoy collecting them like rewards."
" i'm a bleeding heart. " she quips back to him with a smirk, the both of them knowing she was far from it. " perhaps but i get something more fulfilling. " and he was standing in her presence. a shell of his former self. he'd looked often deep in thought these past few decades. introspection? impossible. monsters like themselves weren't created to be regretting. " my reward is you darling. writhing away from the vampire you once were. although, i must say, some days i do miss dancing with you."
"That is very much clear," she had allowed her heart to hold on to anger, revenge; he wasn't surprised at all by what she became. He was to blame; this he had accepted. He was her reason, but he didn't have to be her present. "That could only last for so long, allowing it to consume you; you do have better things, I'm sure." it wasn't like he had changed overnight. This was a process, and one he would atone for.
