Dear Tumblr,
Zum Thema YouTube & Fashion führt die Filmuniversität Babelsberg aktuell eine Studie durch. Wir würden uns freuen, wenn ihr kurz daran teilnehmt!
Today I bought myself a new DVD-shelf. I’m really proud of the turnout. And finally all of my 900 DVDs have a place to be. (The rest of them are in other shelves).
The shelf itself is Billy from Ikea. Nothing fancy and definitely not what I had in mind, when I started looking for a new shelf a while back. But as it turned out: I knew I needed a shelf with a capacity of over 400 DVDs. Et voilà. The only actual shelf in my price capacity was Billy. There were others which I considered for a while. But they were all to small, didn’t had good reviews. And that one shelf, which was turnable, was just waaaay out of my price range.
If you wanna know how I sorted it: by my own system. Meaning: Some by genre. Some by director. Some by country. Some by color. None of them by the alphabet. But at least I know where to search, when I’m looking for something specific. =)
I’m happy. Now I just need to know what I want to watch!

He isn’t coming back, whispered my head. He has to, sobbed my heart. - Rupi Kaur
“thank you Instagram for providing me with the exact response my work was created to critique. you deleted my photo twice stating that it goes against community guidelines. i will not apologize for not feeding the ego and pride of misogynist society that will have my body in an underwear but not be okay with a small leak. when your pages are filled with countless photos/accounts where women (so many who are underage) are objectified. pornified. and treated less than human. thank you. ⠀⠀ as a part of my final project for my visual rhetoric course i created this image along with a full set which you can view at www.rupikaur.com to demystify the period and make something that is innate “normal” again cause rape categories in porn are okay. objectification and sexualization is okay. people getting off on naked underage women. bondage. torture. humiliation. abuse is okay but this makes them uncomfortable. that’s what this work is supposed to do. make you as uncomfortable as you should feel when you watch others get abused and objectified. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ This just goes to show who is sitting behind the desk. And whose controlling the show. Whose controlling the media and who is censoring us. Some women aren’t allowed in their religious place of worship. Out of their homes. To do certain things. And are told they are sick. As if the period is a common cold. Yes. This is here in North America. I have been hospitalized many times because of issues associated with my period. I have been suffering from a sickness related to my period. And ever since I have been working so hard to love it. Embrace it. Celebrate it. Even thought it’s given me so much pain in the past few years. and they want to tell me I should be quiet about this. That all of this we experience collectively does not need to be seen. Just felt secretly behind closed doors. That’s why this is important. Because when I first got my period my mother was sad and worried. And they want to censor all that pain. Experience. Learning. No. Their patriarchy is leaking. Their misogyny is leaking. We will not be censored. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ i bleed each month to help make humankind a possibility. my womb is home to the divine. a source of life for our species. whether i choose to create or not. but very few times it is seen that way. in older civilizations this blood was considered holy. in some it still is. but a majority of people. societies. and communities shun this natural process. some are more comfortable with the pornification of women. the sexualization of women. the violence and degradation of women than this. they cannot be bothered to express their disgust about all that. but will be angered and bothered by this. we menstruate and they see it as dirty. attention seeking. sick. a burden. as if this process is less natural than breathing. as if it is not a bridge between this universe and the last. as if this process is not love. labour. life. selfless and strikingly beautiful.” Rupi Kaur

tv-challenge 5/10 - A Touch of Cloth
And here’s the next one. Again a show by Charlie Brooker. reese1410 has a thing for his work, don’t you? ;)
But here we go.
“A Touch of Cloth is a British television comedy police procedural series created and written by Charlie Brooker and Daniel Maier. It is a parody of British detective and crime dramas, and stars John Hannah as title character Jack Cloth, a police detective with personal issues, and Suranne Jones as Anne Oldman, his bisexual colleague”
from: Wikipedia
What to say about this show? It’s funny to watch, but to have to look carefully at the background because a lot of jokes are made from posters or pictures and you miss them, if you don’t pay attention.
For example: A scene where Cloth has to give a speech in fron of students and in the background is a poster on which is written:
“Remember your history exam or you will be condemnded to repeat it.”
The show is a parody, as mentioned before and therefore you cannot take it serious. But that’s good. It’s still a murder investigation, but they take everything that’s a stereotype in dramas or what has to happen and satirise it.
And again someone from Doctor Who has a role in it: Karen Gillian in series 3.
I really like this kind of humour and am glad, I decided to watch it. :)
I’m already watching the next show (Black Mirror), so reese, I will win! Prepare for it! :)
Yaaay! Charlie Brooker is the best!!! Have fun with Black Mirror! You'll love it!!!
tv-show challenge 4/10 - dead set
I know, I’m late and I don’t have much time left to win this challenge. Deadline is the 30th April and I just watched 5 of the 10 needed shows. But I can do that, I know it! reese1410 you will see!
So the next show I watched, and I did it yesterday evening/night, was “Dead Set”.
It’s quite different from what I watched before, but here’s a description:
“The show takes place primarily on the set of a fictional series of the real television show Big Brother. The five episodes, aired over five consecutive nights, chronicle a zombie outbreak that strands the housemates and production staff inside the Big Brother House, which quickly becomes a shelter from the undead.”
I have to admit, I’m not so much into Zombie movies and tv-shows; but I got interested in it because it sounds different and has just 5 episodes. So, it’s easy and fast to watch.
Is it worth it?
Yes it is! It was great to watch, really realistic and gruesome, what you actually expect when you watch a zombie film. I really liked the idea, that you don’t know where the virus comes from, if there are other survivors, is just Britain infected or the world,…?
The show is actually just about two days and really intense, if you like zombie/apocalypse movies, than you definitely watch it. It’s R-rated, so they show everything, and I mean everything. There are some really bloody scenes.
Bonus, there is a Doctor Who reference, where one of the character refers to it as a children show and someone else defends it. (Don’t have a gif for this scene or a picture)
no gif belongs to me
There is only Black Mirror missing from your Charlie Brooker list ^^
I still don't think you'll make it!
