What would happen if not one, but two, not men, but women were put in charge of a late night show? “Sounds insane!” is what probably many of the powerful executives at broadcast networks that we didn’t ask or have any access to talk to would say. We (Liisa Murray and Meghan Ross) decided that it’s 2015 goddamnit (well technically, the calendars or like the tide or something decided that) and it’s about time for more lady late night hosts. Thus, “That Time of the Month” was born as a monthly late night variety show featuring performers who happen to identify as female. Of course, we ourselves will not be on our periods while hosting to assure the network executives that we can make clear-minded decisions and not set fire to the set for no reason.

Once a month, we showcase characters, stand-up, music and more from some very talented women with improvised commercials in between. At the end of every episode, we get very real and not made-up notes back from the high-and-mighty network execs, telling us if we’ll get picked up for another episode one month later and any drastic changes they want us to make to the show. No matter what they say (like “we hate everything you’re doing” or “you’re two women and too women”), we’ll keep trying to be the very best late night hosts we could be and prove to them that women could do anything they set their minds to, like be a puppy or an astronaut.

This month’s episode is Thursday, April 16th at 9:30pm at Treehouse Theater and we’ll have characters by Leah Spigelman (“Leah Has It All(most)”), stand-up from Alise Morales (IFC), music from Jessica Rowboat and improvised commercials from SUCK MY DICK II. Come out to help us fight the patriarchy through timely bits, or just to enjoy some comedy! No pressure, but we did extend invites to future president Hillary Rodham Clinton and TV president Julia Louis-Dreyfus so you might feel bad if they ended up finding time in their busy schedules and you couldn’t.
