when you code a tumblr theme, whats your process on the css & what do you NEED to do for a theme to be functional at least? i want to make my own from scratch but it just seems so daunting -___- tumblrs weird code makes my brain explode

i haven't made a theme in months bc i also hate tumblr's weird code LOL but i used tumblr's theme documentation to get the base code for my last theme! https://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/custom_themes

right at the beginning of the documentation you can see the complete markup for a theme. copy and paste this onto your theme editor and you should have the beginnings of a theme! it contains everything needed for a theme. there's no css yet, so before </head> you'll wanna add a <style> tag.

for my css process, i usually start first with the containers that hold all the elements. that way i can put each element where it needs to be on the page. after that i start decorating and making the theme look good!!

if you and all my oomfs like, i can make a base theme code for anyone looking to get into theme making!!! lmk hehe ^_^
