The best thing about kiamei is that the writers wasted absolutely zero time in illustrating the relationship. In the OPENENING LEVEL, before you even get access to the main menu, you get:

An exact diagram of how these two work, with Kiana being borderline obsessively clingy and Mei being stoic and serious but still accepting the shenanigans

Another character explicitly referring to Mei as 'Your [Kiana's] girlfriend,'

Kiana counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds since she has last seen Mei,

The VERY FIRST CUTSCENE outside of the intro is Kiana kicking a zombie in the face and immediately throwing herself at Mei,

Mei showing her reciprocation by unleashing the Herrscher of Thunder in response to Kiana being wounded

All in the FIRST LEVEL. They really said "hey these are your main characters. They are very gay and we're loud about it. If you don't like that this game probably isn't for you." And then it proceeds to just intensify throughout the game, even when they're at their lowest.
