I’ve been wanting to draw them for a few months now (since November 😭) and just yesterday I was finally able to get the anatomy right! So yay to that! It’s been a while since I’ve felt truly proud of something I’ve created.

I want to start posting at least once a month but we will see how that goes (since I barely made it this time 😅.)

Honestly I’m really enamored with the idea of Mahiru struggling to deal with the fact that some of his loved ones are both immortal and terribly fragile, and how that impacts their lives

Especially when it comes to the fucky wucky way that that immortality interacts with Sakuya in particular, like

He’s fifteen forever and has seamlessly blended in to his apparent age group but every now and again there comes a situation where Mahiru is starkly reminded that Sakuya grew up through a different landscape than he did

And that part of the reason he has an easier time acting like a modern day teenager is because a modern day teen is the only kind he ever got to be

Like I remember the 90s! Not well but I remember them. Sakuya was never part of those pop culture phenomena that would have shaped people like the trio or Mikuni. The iconic snacks and clothing and games and shows?? They exist in the hands and memories of kids who aren’t him.

Music is a passion he learned from the radio and the odd classmate letting him listen to their CDs during lunch break. Kids aren’t stupid. They would have known something was wrong

Sakuya never had the guts to speak up, and none of them had the power to really ask. Some of them helped how they could, but the idea of “shame” alone would be enough for him to pretend absolutely nothing was wrong

Worst of all… How much more awful will it be if he seeks help and fails?

Uhhh all that text to say it’s so extremely easy to forget that Sakuya is much older than he looks until he points at something and makes a comment like “those used to be made by so and so or named such and such” or picking a gaudy neon windbreaker off a rack to laugh about how they’re making a come back and he always wanted one

He’s fifteen forever. He never got to be fifteen until he was 26. He knows how it feels to die. He really likes the feeling of living.

Mahiru will never forget the memory of someone he loves falling from a high place anymore than Sakuya will.

Neither of them will ever forget a green afternoon

An immortal body might be sturdy, but the heart? Not so much.

What do you mean you can brainwash an entire school district? What do you mean you can be remebered as a school klown and a social butterfly by everybody just like that

What do you mean you saw a guy once, trought he's cool(pretty gay btw) and make him believe you are his childhood best friend and that you bonded over lost parents and that you are his everything?!!

What do you mean your backstory is having your older sister pushed from the balcony by your parents for insurance money and then them doing the same to you?!

What do you mean you stuck in the war between your found family who slowly going insane and the love of your life?!

Like sakuya is such an insane character, he should be on some power scaling list for sure. And the fact that Mahiru still wanted to have him as a friend after all that is amazing.

The fact that this manga is under "horror" is the biggest 4ss pull I ever seen. Just an avarage gay person experience. You never had a sin of Sloth sleep in your house and had to handle his family drama while your worldview entirely colapses, you start to question morality of imortality, some deppresed dude tries to become an only child and your best friend turns out to be a creep? Clearly you're not gay enough.
