I would be opposed to Jerkulus even if it were a het ship. It has nothing to do with it being two guys and everything to do with the fact that your ship is toxic as fuck and the way you treat Lily is hella misogynistic.

I am begging marauders fans to stop commenting on random people’s non HP/marauders posts and videos on any platform and saying things like “this is so regulus black” or honestly, anything about HP/marauders at all.
Not only does it just come off as annoying, but a lot of people try to avoid HP or anything to do with JKR. Understandably so! They can block tags, block accounts and do their best to filter it out, but when people bring it into comments on things completely unrelated, that makes avoiding it impossible.
Imagine you’re just making a random tiktok and you’re flooded with comments telling you that you look just like regulus black? So you look up who that is just to find it’s a character with no lines in a series written by someone whose full time job lately is hating trans people? (btw this is prompted by a video I watched where this exact thing happened. This poor guys response was “who the hell is regulus black and how am I just like him?”)

like we know approximately 3 things about regulus from canon, and one of those things is that he willingly died just for the chance that he'd brought voldemort closer to death. so evil!!
pretty much the rest of his entire character is fanon. in fandom, jily and jegulus are honestly fairly similar: james is a simp, and lily or reg is mean to him (until they're not). both very enemies/rivals to lovers coded. both reg and lily even have similar sibling/family trauma.
in canon universe, regulus being a conflicted death eater while falling for james is just a juicy and complex storyline to explore that jily doesn't really offer. but in au, quite honestly, the only clear difference between jegulus and jily is that one is a queer ship. (not to say that there aren't plenty of queer versions of jily! there are; i have literally written them)
in conclusion, let people like what they like?? and simply ignore the ships you don't like??? i'm begging y'all to use your brains for one second and stop shitting on each other for no goddamn reason

also, let me say a few things based on what you've written.
the other two things we know about regulus in canon, the things that jegulus stans love to purposefully ignore, are that he had a voldemort shrine in his bedroom, and that he got the dark mark by choice when not even his parents had it. regulus adored voldemort. and it doesn't matter that he changed his mind. he still helped voldemort kill thousands of people out of sheer hatred for a minority group that did nothing wrong. he's still a racist and a fascist. and he didn't even die for those oppressed people. he got upset about voldemort's wrongs only when it affected HIMSELF. HIS slave. so yeah, i'm gonna go ahead and say that regulus is not a good guy. sorry? but i actually read the books.
there are so many more differences between jegulus and jily than the queerness. first of all, regulus is an active oppressor of the minority groups in this universe, while lily is a member of said minority group. second of all, regulus has no personality in the books while lily has a beautiful, complex, well-sculpted personality. your fanon little wet cat doesn't count.
and the most important one. there is NOTHING about lily and regulus' family/sibling situation that is REMOTELY similar. if anything, they have opposite situations. you are not actually comparing sirius to petunia?? let's do a little review of their situations, shall we? sirius was being abused by his parents due to his disagreeing with their blood supremacist views, and as a result, he ran away for his own safety and peace of mind. regulus could have left with sirius at any time, but regulus CHOSE to stay with his parents and become the new heir. regulus CHOSE to become a death eater even though the black family was not affiliated with voldemort whatsoever. now, lily was the favorite child of her family, and this became especially blatant when she found out she was a witch and petunia wasn't. petunia was so overwroght with jealousy that she made lily's life a living hell, to the point where lily had to completely abandon the muggle world for the wizarding world. when looking at these two stories side by side, you can see that regulus isn't similar to lily at all. regulus is similar to PETUNIA. :) so if by similar, you mean that regulus is similar to lily's abuser, then you're right there! but other than that? i think you're just delusional.

or they somehow demonize the good side and make it seem like the good guy being with the bad guy is a rebellion and a “finally doing what they want instead of what they have to do” thing when the thing in question is just not being a bigoted fascist.

The ships I like I do so because of the character dynamics and compatible personalities. I dislike the ships that I dislike because of character dynamics and incompatible personalities.
Even as a het ship (in either direction) I would hate jerkulus.
I don't hate wolfstar as a ship, but I don't ship it either. I still wouldn't ship it even if one character were a woman and it was a het ship. Their personalities don't mesh as a couple, in my opinion.
There we go, one ship I absolutely hate and one I simply don't ship. One thing they both have in common is that their stans attack people who don't like their ship by falsely accusing them of homophobia.
I’m team kittywater, not because I ship it, but because this fandom has a habit of humanizing the most despicable male characters and villainizing the female.
Barty, the loyal follower of wizard-moustache man (of his own volition mind you; his parents were anti-voldy) who tortured fralice to insanity, bullied neville, and tried to have Harry killed is suddenly a fan-favourite who can do no wrong.
But Umbridge, the worst thing she did was be an asshole and abusive to her students (which is still extremely terrible, just not on the same level as genocide) is all of a sudden unforgivable and more hated than voldemort himself.
Please please remember that Snape did the same thing (if he did slightly less, he did it for far longer) and is completely idolized. Like yeah double agent whatever but he still abused those kids yknow

Regulus with Umbridge, Snape, or even Kreacher makes more sense than with James. Regulus can be Lucius' gay side piece, even. James and Sirius makes more sense than Jerkulus. At least they share common morals. Even a triad of James/Lily/Sirius makes more sense. And I don't think triads make sense, either.
Honestly, I don't care that people ship noncanon ships, but don't insist that Jerkulus makes any sense.
