To come up with lines that aren't crap
I thought of some lines I could rap
I cussed and I cursed
each new line was the worst
then Tumblr had issues "Aw, Snap!"

Nice dose of perspective for Monday morning
Christ, back in Chicago, we don't make bicycles any more. It's all human relations now. The eggheads sit around trying to figure out new ways for everybody to be happy. Nobody can get fired, no matter what, and if somebody does accidentally make a bicycle, the union accuses us of cruel and inhuman practices and the government confiscates the bicycle for back taxes and gives it to a blind man in Afghanistan.

Everyone likes to get well wishes and such on their birthday, but sometimes people feel cheesy to just outright tell everyone “Hey it’s my birthday on _____”!
So here’s my request for the day….tell us a celebrity/celebrities you share a birthday with....
Sir Arthur Guiness and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Can't believe I never knew that.

Respect for the Red Wings, but this week belonged to the Preds
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post because it took what is often poorly explained and made it so blatantly simple. Also it combined two of my favorite things, mystery novels and coding.
Thanks to the IPhone auto complete "You are an amazing wife" just got sent as "You are an Amazon wife"

This reminds me of the Safety Dance. They can shoot pool if they want to. They can leave their friends behind.
Truthful Tuesday - my little secret
It is now lunchtime. Coworkers are streaming in the kitchenette in front of my office busily preparing their Lean Cuisines, occasionally glancing over to see me listening to my headphones. Bach some think, others Chopin. But only I know that I'm actually listening to Rio by Duran Duran, and it makes me smile.
I've been listening to The Civil Wars all week after hearing them for the first time last week at 8tracks.com. I just looked up their tour schedule and they will be at The Pilot Light in the old city on the 22nd! I am a sucker for good harmony and they definitely have that. This is a cover of Billie Jean. Yeah, it sounds like it would be cheesy, but they do it with such emotion that I can't stop listening to it.
By request, here is my version of Change the World by Eric Clapton. Not clean, but I wanted to take the honest first take approach. Hope you enjoy.
Becoming a better developer
Becoming a better developer involves knowing how, when, and why to refactor poorly operating code. In the not too distant past I didn't take enough time to refactor code early in my projects which led to a resistance to change throughout the project's lifecycle. By embracing the need to refactor code from the start, my projects are constantly evolving to meet the needs of users and do not suffer from the gridlock that inevitably plagued my earlier code.
There is so much to be learned from refactoring your own code. It allows me to see how I've grown as a developer. It also allows me to see which patterns hold up over the course of a project and which seem like good approaches in a project's infancy but ultimately become unmaintainable.
