the corporate machine has cursed us to think that lack of productivity = bad even when there's absolutely NOTHING to do.

when i used to work in an office and was in between tasks i used to watch streamer VODs and video essays on youtube on my phone until i finally had something to do

exactly like im getting everything done that needs to get done right away and then i just sit here and twiddle my thumbs and quietly go insane!! cuz also god forbid anyone bring a book to read or something to do at a welcome desk bc of "optics" or whatever bullshit. they just want u to be miserable imo. they won't even let my coworker do schoolwork on her downtime :/

at my last job i was mostly remote which was nice bc if there was nothing to do i could like. start a load of laundry or do some dishes or fuck around until someone needed me! but here i just wait and wait and wait. would love to watch a video at least but im in a WIDE open area and not against a wall or anything so ppl come up behind me all the time lmao i am very exposed

(but also my 2 weeks are in anyway so who gives a fuck i guess!)

((and i did figure it out, they just needed to be charged 😅 but i don't get the low battery notifs on my phone so how was a gal to know until it was too late!!))

we are SO close to the finish line that i am constantly dragging 😭😭 but it will taste so sweet the last time i get home from work and that first weekday when i can change my alarm from being set to 4:30am 🩷 these things keep me going

this week especially i have been going crazy at work because it is SO quiet which i don't mind bc i like not doing things but i am also just at a desk in the middle of this very visible area but ppl obviously are on their way to their own desks and then the lady who usually sits with me was asked to sit upstairs this week so i am alone just slowly dissolving into madness

AND! this building is all bright white floors and bright white walls and bright white lighting so i am being suffocated by corporate minimalism. someone please put a plant or a fish tank in here
