FML you are only 7 years older than me and here i am making stick figures. even though i want to draw for living. ;-;
“"Only”“
My dude thats nearly a decade, theres nothing little about that.
You gain skill as you keep going at it, and once you get it rolling you’ll be suprised how fast you start to improve.
I dislike big chunk of work i did in 2016, and 2015 work makes me cringe just how bad it is. But the cringe feels good, it means i personally notice how much i’ve gotten better in just 2 years.
Don’t feel sorry for yourself, don’t just say ” i suck “. Instead go “where do i suck ” - find where you are lacking and find a way to start learning it. Keep at it, get a small sketchbook and fill that up. Always practise.
Or not even practise, just draw everyday. Even if i don’t digitally do anything whole day, i still sit down late night with a sketchbook to doodle. Let your hands get used to the pen. Let it the movement grow flowy and natural.
The skill will grow onto you, if you make effort to learn and make doodling part of your day.
7 years is lot of time to get better. If you dedicate to making yourself better, i see no reason why you wouldn’t be way better than me in 7 years.
(I was gonna add a picture of my current sketchbook-filled surroundings, but im on mobile and u cant add pics to replies innit so :^) thanks tumblr )
(Nothing in this mobile app works, gotta reblog to add pics like an animal.)
But ye - i upkeep at least 3 sizes of sketchbooks all the time, with varying paper so i can use markers/water colors if desired.
Taking time from evening to doodle out ideas stuck in your head helps a ton and makes working the next day much easier. Even if it’s just thumbnail doodles.
Don’t aim for perfection - aim for getting ideas out so you can move forward and keep getting better.
Jackpot
This is getting kind of ridiculous.
