There is a quiet magic in the number three. After a season of painting solitary bowls, a studio visit from a fellow painter pulled me back to a subject that has anchored my creative practice for years: the shapely, expressive form of the pear. Every time I return to them, they naturally gather in trios. There is something deeply sensuous, almost figurative, about their curves—a subtle nod to the life drawing I have loved but haven't practiced in a while. In The Golden Pour, these three forms emerge from a rich, shadowy background, caught in a dance of light streaming from multiple angles. The central, heavy application of fluid yellow paint is the heartbeat of the piece, capturing a fleeting moment where light feels less like a reflection and more like a deliberate, golden energy poured directly onto the canvas. Finishing this piece felt like catching up with an old friend. It is an invitation to slow down, notice the weight of the objects around us, and find the extraordinary in the familiar.
