And here we see X-Men perfectly illustrating the disparity between the larger disability community (Storm) and the chronic illness community (Rogue). One wants society to accept & respect them & their various different needs, which is surely a noble cause, while the other would like to NOT BE IN PAIN EVERY FUCKING DAY, which is just as important but often gets shouted down by non-ill disabled people who only want to talk about disability as a social construct.

The quest throwing you right back into sumeru right away is so refreshing (even if it's because of horrific circumstances)

collei’s vision of the future essentially being an AU where everyone’s positions are swapped is so ao3 coded, like wdym kaveh is a super wealthy merchant who gets into spats with the grand sage (who, is aware that he’s living in a fanfiction and saves kaveh money anyway, okay)

Also dori and Layla paralleling alhaitham and kaveh plsss, with layla the renowned architect being dori the scribe's tenant, the only world in which haikaveh have anything close to a normal conversation

(not the alhaitham parallel clocking when the kaveh parallel is down, yes this is canon to me, only dori and layla’s interactions are bearable to watch lmao thank you for communicating like normal people and doing what haikaveh cannot!)

Thinking about how kaveh expresses self-doubt about him pulling off the plan because of its significance and him downplaying his previous successes in comparison, estranging himself from the others as if he doesn’t deserve to be there, and then alhaitham being the one to bring him out of this doubt by referring back to the previous archon quest, that at least kaveh is here this time - and that makes all the difference

But ofc kaveh takes this encouragement as a slight, and it works in dispelling his self-doubt – LIKE MAGIC!!!

highlighting again that alhaitham knows kaveh inside out and that he knows how to bring kaveh back into himself, moving forward with the confidence he deserves to have, and this is mirrored in that when kaveh feels nervous later on, the only person he seeks out is alhaitham, yeah okay!!!!!!!!!

Alhaitham and kaveh officially being considered part of collei’s family means so much? like it’s a culmination of all we’ve seen so far, the meeting in kaveh’s hangout where everyone was invited by tighnari to discuss collei’s progress and how to best support her and the mention of alhaitham’s guidance in collei’s letter

the idea of everyone banding together outside of in-game events to be a support system for collei is just everything to me, the sumeru cast are FAMILY okay??

every time I open The Hunger Games (or Los Juegos del Hambre in this case) I remember. Oh yeah. I love Katniss Everdeen. She’s awkward and antisocial and brusque and she loves her mom and sister and friend so much and she is so bad at showing it so she’s just uncomfortable around social interactions and has no idea what to say if it’s not practical survival advice and suspicious at any gesture that suggests anyone else likes her. What a protagonist

I had heard of the whole messed up situation with this story, but I hadn't ever read the synopsis of the story before, and WOW

This story sounds like it could have been a brilliant exploration of gender and warfare and violence but instead it was attacked by people who didn't know how to confront a story that made them uncomfortable, and the author faced horrible consequences.

It's so important to be able to deal with stories that give you uncomfortable feelings in other ways than just attacking it. Being shown new perspectives sometimes has feelings of discomfort because it's an unfamiliar way of seeing the world.
