Week 7:

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great week from the last time I spoke to you! Thank you to “ktchiasson2” for recommending today’s topic. “ktchiasson2” stated that she has always loved horses and would love for me to highlight them in this weeks blog. Of course I love to hear all of your requests so please feel free to message me more! I also haven’t gotten the chance to focus on many other types of animals so I thought this would be great for this week! Now, onto the actual blog for this week…

This week I will be talking about an organization called Habitat for Horses. Habitat for Horses has been around since 1998 and has worked with law enforcement throughout Texas and the rest of the nation to protect the lives of horses. They often document and hold horses to use in court presentations about neglect cases of horses. All they ask in return of being this witness is that they get to rehabilitate the horse and keep him/her until they are better again. Then, they fully vaccinate and give a write up about the horses personality so that someone can find the perfect horse so they can keep it for the rest of its life.

I personally don’t have a horse and my family isn’t planning on adopting one anytime soon, but I thought that this was a good site to share anyways. Habitat for Horses is a great place for horses that “promotes and secures the safety, well being, and health of horses.” They also specialize in rehabilitating horses so that they can be adopted into loving homes. I think that a lot of the time, when people think of rescue animals, they often only think of cats and dogs. This is why I believe it is important to help people recognize that other animals need this help too!

I know that adopting a horse is obviously something that doesn’t come lightly and not many families can do it. I also know that most if not all of you reading this blog will not adopt a horse and if you ever do than you probably won’t even remember this website. Even if this happens, I think it is crucial to get word out about websites like this. Places like Habitat for Horses are doing such amazing things with little to no recognition because they aren’t on the news or media often. Smaller organizations deserve recognition too because even saving one animals life makes the world of differences. Thank you so much for staying around for another week! It is estimated that one third of the food we eat everyday relies on pollination mainly by bees.  Pollinating flowers and contributing to the beautification of the planet’s floral landscapes may be the bees’ perhaps simplest and least economically important actions, but it’s certainly its most aesthetically pleasing one. By keeping flowers pollinated, bees perpetuate floral growth and provide attractive habitats for other animals such as insects and birds. Bees are easily amongst the most important insects to humans on Earth.

Go plant an organic flower native to wherever you are

Leave your “weeds” alone they probably aren’t hurting anything

Stop using/buying Roundup and all other insecticides, herbicides, pesticides. 

If you have a bee problem (which almost never happens) call a local beekeeper! They will remove them safely free of charge

Bumblebees usually nest underground and just wanna be left alone! They won’t hurt you. To prevent destroying their habit during hibernation, avoid mowing yards until April or May. If you do mow, raise the blades to the highest setting

Please save my fat clumsy fuzzy friends I love them and they’re very good pollinators.

Killing seals is inhumane.

Today, though, the Canadian seal industry looks like a shell of its former lucrative self. Decades of bad publicity and campaigns to end the slaughter have taken a toll. Last year sealing generated only $1.6 million in sales, down from $34 million in 2006, according to Canada’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans. That year, 5,600 sealers participated in the hunt; now there may be no more than a few hundred.

But animal welfare groups claim that the killings are inhumane, with hunters impaling pups in their face or eyes and shooting seals from moving boats. Hunters generally target pups for their soft coat. “Many animals are left to suffer in agony, crawling through their own blood on the ice,” says Rebecca Aldworth, executive director of the Humane Society International-Canada.
