ok so i am doing what i should have done Ages Ago & remaking!!!!

my new blog is aelle & it’s going to be much more strictly focused on art history, classics, & poetry; when semester starts up again it’s probably going to verge on studyblr territory, god help us all. i’m going to try to put up at least three original translations a week, mostly latin & greek & then fragments of my shitty french & old english & italian, but as i get more confident i’ll hopefully start doing some german translations as well. this is in large part bc as of this year i am officially Decrepit & not allowed to have fun anymore & i have to go to bed at nine p m and not watch cartoons, or something.

over the next couple of days im going to try to refollow as many of my long-term mutuals & friends as i can. if we’re mutuals & i miss you out it’s not at all on purpose it’s just me being forgetful, please feel free to follow @aelle & i will follow you back!! alternately if you were following me here for fandom stuff & are already blocking my ‘reshki reblogs art’ tag & aren’t interested in MORE OF THAT OH GOD then there’s no pressure to follow @aelle at all, be free, love as thou wilt, etc.

im still working v v v v v slowly through theb.ii but oh my god ohhhhhhh my god this whole bit is so good i can’t even make fun of it, i’m twelve thousand per cent convinced that the thebaid was originally incredibly boring & pointless but then statius moobling around on some ghostly errand heard me talking shit & was like HAHA! YOU FOOL & time-travelled back & murdered his original self & rewrote the entire thing as a ghost & made it REALLY COOL specifically to annoy me tumblr user reshki. magnanimum effingam regum figamque superbis honestly without even taking meaning into account it looks like it should be gaudy, like even in super twisty over-the-top prayer language that should stand out like shitty dis-chem glitter eyeshadow or smth but it works, those greek gen plurals are usually so heavy & sombre but the elision & then intersplicing them with the first-person futures is soooooooooo nice, it means that you get that v grandiose set of four -m endings in a row without any syndeton breaks!!!!! but it just misses being ludicrously heavy & then it just culminates in that perfectly placed superbis, this is not actual analysis this is just me getting really really hap about ~aesthetics, that is one line but it’s soooooooo good. the whole thing is amazing im going to translate it actually hang on.
